A teenager has revealed the chilling moment he thought he would die after being stabbed by by machete-wielding men who then stole his e-bike in Melbourne\u2019s east.<\/p>\n

Police say the teenager, who was 17 at the time, was approached by two unknown males at JW Manson Reserve on Selkirk Ave in Wantirna about 6.15pm on June 20.<\/p>\n

Without warning, the two men attacked the teenager and pushed him off his e-bike. <\/p>\n

\u201cI was out riding my e-bike, stopped to check my phone, and was knocked off my bike from behind,\u201d the teenager told the Herald Sun. <\/p>\n

As the teenager tried to flee the unwarranted attack, police said he was \u201chit from behind with a machete\u201d, which caused a deep wound to his shoulder. <\/p>\n

He said the men started \u201cswinging the machetes at me when I was on the ground\u201d. <\/p>\n

\u201cI was extremely shocked, but I knew what was happening and managed to get up and run away, leaving my bike behind,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

After he got back up, he heard the men talking about chasing him down.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey chased me down, saying stuff like \u2018oi, just kill him right now\u2019, and \u2018quick, quick just kill him\u2019,\u201d the teen said. <\/p>\n

\u201cI thought they were going to kill me and was begging them not to and asking them why they were doing this.\u201d<\/p>\n

The men took off with the teenager\u2019s mobile phone and his e-bike \u2013 a Surron Ultra Bee HP e-bike with an estimated value of $10,000. <\/p>\n

The teenager managed to escape the attack and fled to Selkirk Ave, where a passer-by called triple-0. <\/p>\n

The then-17-year-old was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. <\/p>\n

He spent four days in hospital and had to undergo surgery after sustaining at least three wounds from the attack. <\/p>\n

Senior Sergeant Samuel Beard told the Herald Sun the wound the teenager sustained during the attack and robbery was \u201csignificant\u201d. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt was definitely a confronting wound, he was in hospital for a few nights for surgery,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re not talking about a small assault.<\/p>\n

\u201dThe sheer and immediate violence in the attack is just reprehensible. It\u2019s absolutely disgusting.\u201d <\/p>\n

Police have released CCTV footage of two males who they believe can assist with the inquiries. <\/p>\n

\u201cIn response to this incident, local police enhanced proactive patrols in the area to provide a dedicated and highly visible presence to the community,\u201d a police statement read.<\/p>\n
