Aldi<\/a> has recalled<\/a> a popular light-up plush toy sold in its Special Buys range<\/a> after some toys overheated, with incidents reported where they caught fire.<\/p>\n

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission<\/a> (ACCC) issued a recall on Friday for the Findon Light Up Sensory Plush, sold in Aldi stores between July 4 and July 14.<\/p>\n

The ACCC warned that the toy’s circuit board is non-compliant and could overheat, posing a risk of serious burns and property damage.<\/p>\n

The plush toys were available in koala, Highland cow, axolotl and penguin designs and contained batteries.<\/p>\n

The ACCC confirmed overheating incidents have already occurred and urged customers to stop using the toys immediately, remove the batteries and keep them out of children’s reach.<\/p>\n

“Risk of serious burn injury and property damage if the toy overheats or catches fire while in use,” the ACCC stated in its recall notice.<\/p>\n

The toys were part of the supermarket’s beloved Special Buys<\/a> offer, which offers items not typically sold in grocery stores, such as gym equipment.<\/p>\n

The plush toys were sold at Aldi for 10 days from July 4.<\/p>\n

Shoppers have been told to use the toy immediately, remove the batteries, and keep it out of children’s reach.<\/p>\n

The toys can be returned to Aldi for a full refund.<\/p>\n

It’s not the only item recalled from this particular Special Buys sale; the Nuby Foldable Baby Bathtub was also recently pulled from shelves<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This product was sold for just two days before a recall was issued.<\/p>\n

“Permanent warning labels are missing, and consumers may not be aware of the important safety information about the use of the product,” the recall stated.<\/p>\n
