If you haven\u2019t heard of viral girl group Katseye, then you likely didn\u2019t bother trying to snag elusive tickets to their one and only Sydney appearance. <\/p>\n
The global superstars took over Luna Park on Wednesday night for an exclusive Q&A attended by their mega fans who won tickets to see them live in the flesh, during which they shared their confusion over some Aussie slang terms they\u2019ve heard during their first visit Down Under as a girl group. <\/p>\n
\u201cWhat did we learn today? Bogan?\u201d Lara Raj, 20, asked the audience as fellow member Megan Skiendiel confirmed they indeed heard the term thrown about since they arrived in Australia.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd you guys say, \u2018I\u2019m keen\u2019 [and] \u2018I reckon,\u2019\u201d added Megan, also 20.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, their fellow bandmate Daniela Avanzini, 21, was hung up on another Aussie word.<\/p>\n
\u201cWait, I heard that y\u2019all called the barbecue the \u2018barbie\u2019 or something,\u201d she chimed in as other members Sophia Laforteza, 23, and Yoonchae, 18, agreed. <\/p>\n
Another term Lara said she was struggling to grasp is \u201cDown Under\u201d.<\/p>\n

Q&A host Tait McGregor then hilariously strung the words together for the group \u2013 whether or not it left them more confused, remains to be seen.<\/p>\n
\u201cI \u2018reckon\u2019 Katseye is pretty \u2018keen\u2019 for a \u2018barbie\u2019 \u2018Down Under,\u2019\u201d she told the crowd. \u201cGot to make that happen.\u201d<\/p>\n
Fans went into a frenzy weeks ago when it was announced the group was visiting Australia for a Q&A in Sydney and a pop-up performance in Melbourne, which takes place on Thursday night in front of a sold-out crowd at Festival Hall.<\/p>\n
Lara, Megan, Daniela, Sophia and Yoonchae became fan favourites long before they even formed Katseye. <\/p>\n
Each member appeared on the Netflix docu-series Pop Star Academy, which followed 20 aspiring dancers and singers (selected from more than 120,000 international applicants) as they underwent an intensive training program in LA. <\/p>\n
The K-pop training program was run as a joint venture by South Korean entertainment company Hybe and US record label Geffen to create a truly global girl group with the aesthetic of K-pop but with a universal appeal.<\/p>\n
The show was filmed over 18 months before premiering in 2024 as an 8-episode docu-series on Netflix, during which fans from around the world were able to vote for their favourite artists. <\/p>\n
The final six-member line-up, as voted by fans, is now known as Katseye.<\/p>\n
As of February this year, the group\u2019s sixth member, Manon Bannerman, announced she was going on hiatus from the group to focus on her health and wellbeing.<\/p>\n
The group has achieved significant global success since releasing its first single titled Debut in 2024. <\/p>\n
This year alone they received two Grammy nominations including Best New Artist, while also performing at the ceremony in February, they made their debut at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April, and they are up for three American Music Awards later this month for New Artist of the Year, Breakthrough Pop Artist and Best Music Video for Gnarly.<\/p>\n
All that and they haven\u2019t even release their debut album yet. <\/p>\n
So what\u2019s next for Katseye? Well, the sky\u2019s the limit.<\/p>\n
\u201cHopefully a world tour,\u201d Daniela said at the Q&A, hinting Sydney would definitely be a tour stop. \u201cWe love Australia.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI heard you guys have a really big arena somewhere,\u201d Sophia added as the crowd yelled out the big three: Allianz, Accor and Qudos Bank Arena. \u201cWe want to headline Coachella, headline Lollapalooza, we want to headline everything.\u201d<\/p>\n
And watch out Spice Girls because Katseye are coming for your crown, revealing they would love to star in a movie similar to the Spice Girls\u2019 1997 comedy film Spice World, where Scary, Sporty, Baby, Ginger and Posh each played themselves. <\/p>\n
\u201cI want to have a movie, like a Spice Girls movie,\u201d Sophie said. \u201cWe\u2019ll have a story but still play ourselves. Like that would be so fun. A Katseye movie. Write that down.\u201d<\/p>\n
