of rain this afternoon, as several regions enjoy their Royal Queensland Show public holiday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Harry Clark, senior meteorologist with the Bureau of Meteorology, said the &#8220;dynamic&#8221; day of weather was due to a vigorous trough moving across south-east and central Queensland.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;That means fairly cloudy \u2026 and it&#8217;ll be one line of showers and thunderstorms that comes through,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;I&#8217;d probably pack a poncho if I was going to the Ekka.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Any rainfall associated with the storms is expected to be short and heavy, with &#8220;meagre&#8221; totals likely not exceeding 10mm, accompanied by strong winds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;They could impact Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, all the way up to around Gympie during the afternoon \u2026 Not expecting them to be severe, but certainly a bit gusty.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">A marine wind warning is in place for Moreton Bay, Sunshine and Gold Coast waters today.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">While some <a class=\"Link_link__5eL5m ScreenReaderOnly_srLinkHint__OysWz Link_showVisited__C1Fea Link_showFocus__ALyv2\" href=\"https:\/\/www.qld.gov.au\/recreation\/travel\/holidays\/show#dates2026\" data-component=\"Link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">local government areas<\/a> are enjoying an Ekka Show Day today, Brisbane city will observe its public holiday on Wednesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">The capital will see maximum temperatures hovering around the mid-20s this week, with minimums dropping to 9-11 degrees.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"A crowd of people walking through an alleyway at a carnival-type show with stalls.\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/3960e697f2d9c50f332f6c0b96aa2809.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">Windy conditions are expected at the Ekka today, with a possible short burst of rainfall.\u00a0 (ABC News: Dean Caton)<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Dynamic&#8217; week of weather<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Through north and western Queensland, conditions are expected to be relatively clear on Monday, with temperatures around two to five degrees above average for this time of year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;We will have minimum temperatures in the mid to high teens for places such as Mackay all the way up to Cairns and even inland,&#8221; Mr Grant said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Injune could drop to -1 degrees on Tuesday morning, with Stanthorpe getting down to 2- or 3-degree minimums.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Another weak trough is expected to move across southern parts of the state on Wednesday, meaning a return to more cloud and isolated or scattered showers west of the range, before clearing again on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;It&#8217;s a bit of a parade of these troughs coming through from the west over the next few days \u2026 A little bit of weather associated with each one, but some cold and clear days in between them,&#8221;
