{"id":68500,"date":"2026-08-10T02:15:13","date_gmt":"2026-08-10T02:15:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/68500\/"},"modified":"2026-08-10T02:15:13","modified_gmt":"2026-08-10T02:15:13","slug":"potholes-create-freeway-carnage-at-bunyip-as-motorists-warned-to-take-care-in-wet-weather","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/68500\/","title":{"rendered":"Potholes create freeway &#8216;carnage&#8217; at Bunyip as motorists warned to take care in wet weather"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Up to 30 vehicles have been forced off the road due to large potholes that have opened along the Princes Freeway at Bunyip in Victoria&#8217;s east.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">The Victorian transport department has warned of Melbourne-bound delays on the freeway as a result of the road damage just before Hope Street.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Garry, who was driving through the area, has told ABC Melbourne it was carnage, with more than two dozen cars damaged as a result.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;For about 15 kilometres thereafter, cars were pulled over with damaged rims,&#8221; he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;We were shocked, and as you approach, I thought there was a major accident.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;The highway has just fallen apart. (ABC Gippsland: Danielle Kutchel)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Admiral Towing operator David Gridley said he knew of at least 30 vehicles that had suffered flat or blown tyres.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;There&#8217;s just multiple very large potholes that when they&#8217;re full of water, they&#8217;re just impossible to see,&#8221; he said. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;The holes are that deep that they&#8217;re just destroying the tyres.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;It&#8217;s happened once before where we&#8217;ve had a series of potholes that have caused a major issue for weeks, and it&#8217;s just happening again.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">He blamed the problem on a failure to properly maintain roads.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;The roads, they&#8217;re not getting repaired properly.
