Melbourne High School\u2019s student-run Political Interest Group sent out a message to its members this week announcing Lennon\u2019s appearance at the all-boys selective entry college. <\/p>\n

\u201c(Student) was right when he said there would be too much greatness at the start of the term,\u201d the note said. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re keeping the momentum going as this term comes to an end. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe are excited to announce our next PIG guest speaker: online personality Hugo Lennon aka \u2018Auspill\u2019. <\/p>\n

\u201cHugo will be dropping in to share his insights on modern conservative political commentary and the role online culture plays in youth political engagement.\u201d<\/p>\n

Students were encouraged to fill out an expression of interest form to \u201csecure\u201d their spot with Lennon expected to answer questions at the end of the session. <\/p>\n

A Melbourne High School student said it was \u201cabsolutely putrid\u201d for the school-endorsed student group to be \u201cplatforming\u201d Lennon.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is disgusting, the Political Interest Group has taken it a step too far,\u201d he wrote on social media. <\/p>\n

\u201cAbsolutely putrid to be platforming a far-right extremist … who played a hand in organising the \u2018march for Australia\u2019 alongside neo-Nazis. <\/p>\n

\u201cThis man is not a politician. This man is a social media radicalist.\u201d <\/p>\n

Lennon has become a high-profile figure amongst the Australian far-right, including appearing alongside neo-Nazis at rallies across the country. <\/p>\n

Last month, he hurled racist chants at Indian Prime Minister Narenda Modi<\/a> when he visited Melbourne including shouting \u201cf–k Modi. F–k India. This is Australia. No more Indians. We don\u2019t want any more migration\u201d. <\/p>\n

Lennon also claimed responsibility for plastering posters of Bondi shooter Naveed Akram<\/a> across the CBD in February. <\/p>\n

Melbourne High School principal Anthony Mordini said \u201conce the school was made aware, we immediately cancelled the invitation and proposed event.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cStudents have been reminded of the behavioural expectations required at our school and that any events involving external visitors must be approved by the principal or their delegate,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

It comes as Melbourne High School\u2019s Political Interest Group celebrated its 30 year anniversary last month. <\/p>\n
