A Brisbane rapper has been charged with murdering his 27-year-old ex-partner who was found dead inside a Queensland home.<\/p>\n

Slacks Creek rapper Ronald Cora, 37, also known as MC Triks, was arrested and later charged with murder (domestic violence).<\/p>\n

The Woody Point woman was found unresponsive in a bedroom at the back of a home on Rowanda St, Slacks Creek shortly before 12.30am on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Paramedics and police tried to revive the woman, but she could not be saved and died at the scene.<\/p>\n

Police believe the woman died by asphyxiation.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s understood Mr Cora was the person to call emergency services on Wednesday morning. <\/p>\n

Detective Inspector Ian Galpin said police believed the pair were previously in a relationship, but had separated some time before the woman\u2019s alleged murder.<\/p>\n

He said investigations were under way as to how the woman came to be at Mr Cora\u2019s address, but the two did not live together at the home prior to their break-up.<\/p>\n

It is not known how long the pair had been in a relationship or when they broke up.<\/p>\n

Inspector Galpin said it was believed no children were involved and no one else was located at the residence.<\/p>\n

Mr Cora is expected to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The rapper is known for performing around Brisbane and Logan areas. <\/p>\n

He also performed under the name Intrikit Wayz.<\/p>\n

He once appeared in a promotional video for the Queensland State Library in 2017 talking about his time at the Australian Company of Performing Arts and his work with youth artists.<\/p>\n

He has previously featured in special programming for Brisbane radio station 4ZZZ and local hip-hop festival Underground Fest.<\/p>\n

Police urged anyone with information about the matter to contact them.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no ongoing threat to the community,\u201d a police statement read. <\/p>\n

Inspector Galpin said police were dedicated to preventing domestic violence in the community.<\/p>\n

\u201cAny life that is lost because of domestic and family violence has an obvious and devastating impact on family and friends but also on the wider community,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s something that the QPS, our partner agencies and our support agency \u2013 we come to work every day to try and prevent this exact thing \u2026 we all feel it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Police urged anyone with information about the matter to contact them.<\/p>\n

Queensland Domestic and Family Violence Alliance chief executive Melanie Arnost said domestic violence deaths were the \u201ctip of the iceberg\u201d in Australia\u2019s domestic violence problem.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnother tragedy is rocking our community,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe state of violence in Queensland and Australia that impacts people at home, it\u2019s such a huge issue and we really need to be doing more at home.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can try everything we can \u2026 but at the end of the day, this is an issue that goes much, much deeper.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ms Arnost said more funding for frontline services and intervention and prevention programs was needed to \u201cchange the narrative\u201d in Australia. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe need extra investment to keep women and children safe and make sure everyone across Queensland has a happy and healthy relationship and can live happily and safely in their home,\u201d Ms Arnost said.<\/p>\n
