Global dining phenomenon Diner En Blanc is returning to Adelaide after a near decade-long absence.<\/p>\n
The mysterious outdoor feast \u2013 held annually in a secret location and attended by hundreds of guests dressed entirely in white \u2013 will make a comeback on Saturday, December 5.<\/p>\n
As is tradition, aspiring diners need to register online for a chance at securing a coveted ticket to the secretive event.<\/p>\n
If successful, participants will gather at meeting points across the city and are escorted to the final location. <\/p>\n
Last held in Adelaide in 2019, previous dinners have been hosted in Rundle Mall, Elder Park, Adelaide Zoo and Rymill Park.<\/p>\n
Kirsty Aitken, producer of the revived local event, said this year\u2019s Diner En Blanc is sure to be a memorable experience for all guests.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe location will stay under wraps until guests arrive at the venue. Believe me, I\u2019ve been asked and even bribed with French champagne, but the secret is safe,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat I can promise is that the wait will be worth it.\u201d<\/p>\n
The first Le Diner En Blanc was held in 1988 by Fran\u00e7ois Pasquier, who organised a picnic in a public park with a group of friends.<\/p>\n
Each guest was asked to bring a meal and a friend, and dress in white so they could identify each other.<\/p>\n
After continuing as an annual event in Paris, it travelled internationally to Montreal, and in 2011, New York.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s grown into an international movement, held in more than 120 cities across 40 countries. <\/p>\n
Tickets will go on sale in early September.
