plan to turn Sydney into three cities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Greater Sydney will have three CBDs, new jobs for Western suburbs and new housing for Eastern suburbs under the NSW\u2019s government\u2019s new 20-year plan. <\/p>\n<p>It projects Sydney will need an additional 800,000 homes and 950,000 jobs in the next 20 years and sets out how successive local and state governments can stay ahead of the city\u2019s needs. <\/p>\n<p>The framework, dubbed the \u201cSydney Plan\u201d, aims to build a \u2018nodal\u2019 network of 30 interconnected centres with three main CBD areas in homes, jobs and infrastructure should be built to support growing communities. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is about planning ahead, not catching up, so Sydney has the homes it needs for the next 30 years and beyond,\u201d Mr Scully said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt also locks in a requirement for an ongoing pipeline of feasible housing supply, so we do not find ourselves back in the position we are in today. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt recognises that different parts of Sydney have different strengths, supporting more housing in well-serviced areas while driving the next wave of economic growth in Western regions with an increase in jobs of 59 per cent by 2046.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Eastern suburbs will provide just under half of Sydney\u2019s new homes in the next five years and three quarters of the new housing supply over 20 years. <\/p>\n<p>Major centres with \u201ca strong employment function\u201d will include Blacktown, Norwest, Liverpool, Randwick, Mascot, St Leonards, Sydney Olympic Park, targets but the Sydney Plan classifies each LGA and specifies the ideal housing density they should create. <\/p>\n<p>The framework tackles housing affordability with more social and affordable housing including the 8,400 homes promised in the previously announced Building Homes package. <\/p>\n<p>The Planning, Housing and Infrastructure Department has committed to releasing an \u2018annual
