{"id":71498,"date":"2026-08-13T23:57:08","date_gmt":"2026-08-13T23:57:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/71498\/"},"modified":"2026-08-13T23:57:08","modified_gmt":"2026-08-13T23:57:08","slug":"atsb-boss-angus-mitchell-questions-delay-in-reporting-a-third-safety-incident-at-sydney-airport","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/71498\/","title":{"rendered":"ATSB boss Angus Mitchell questions delay in reporting a third safety incident at Sydney Airport"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">The nation&#8217;s air safety boss has questioned why it took four days for another safety incident at Sydney Airport to be reported to investigators.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Air Traffic Safety Bureau (ATSB) chief commissioner Angus Mitchell told the ABC he was only notified of Sunday&#8217;s incident about lunchtime on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">The most recent incident last Sunday <a class=\"Link_link__5eL5m ScreenReaderOnly_srLinkHint__OysWz Link_showVisited__C1Fea Link_showFocus__ALyv2\" href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2026-08-13\/third-sydney-airport-runway-take-off-incident-investigated\/107035400\" data-component=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">involved two planes more than kilometre away crossing the same runway ahead of take-off.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Air Services Australia said the two aircraft were never in close proximity and was working with the ATSB to investigate the incident.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;The two aircraft didn&#8217;t come within really probably around a thousand metres of each other.
