The North Sydney Olympic Pool has unexpectedly shut its doors less than a week after reopening. <\/p>\n
More than 10,000 people flooded the North Sydney Olympic Pool on Saturday after its $122m restoration makeover, which took five years to complete. <\/p>\n
However, less than a week after its spectacular reopening, the pool\u2019s doors were firmly shut on Friday morning. <\/p>\n
A North Sydney Council spokesman told NewsWire the pool was closed due to a power outage on Thursday night. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe pool has been temporarily closed while the issue is investigated and the necessary works are carried out,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
\u201cContractors and technical specialists have been working throughout the night to resolve the issue and complete the works as quickly as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n
The council spokesman told NewsWire the pool would reopen once the works were complete. <\/p>\n
\u201cFurther updates will be provided as more information becomes available,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
\u201cCouncil understands the community\u2019s disappointment and apologises for the disruption.\u201d <\/p>\n
The pool was opened in 1936 and is one of the country\u2019s most recognisable swimming destinations, with its sweeping views overlooking the Sydney Harbour Bridge.<\/p>\n
It recently underwent mammoth renovations to restore its Art Deco design, with the doors shut for 1986 days. <\/p>\n
More than 10,000 people flocked to the pool for its reopening to test out the 50m outdoor pool and 25m lap pool as well as its new cafe and old-school gelato bar. <\/p>\n
