swan forced to vape in Perth schoolboys\u2019 video dies: Cops"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two teenagers accused of beating a black swan and forcing it to inhale vape fumes in a social media video are now facing further charges, after police confirmed the animal had died.<\/p>\n<p>Two teenagers aged 16 and 13 from Erskine, a Mandurah suburb about 77km south of Perth, allegedly hit a black swan on its head and forced it to inhale vape fumes on an inflatable boat near Endeavour Island earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>They were charged with causing unnecessary harm to an animal.<\/p>\n<p>In a further statement on Friday, Western Australia Police confirmed the swan at the centre of the alleged video had died.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a result of ongoing investigations into an animal cruelty incident in Mandurah earlier this month involving the death of a black swan, Mandurah Detectives identified a second alleged offence,\u201d a police spokesman said.<\/p>\n<p>Police confirmed two boys have been charged with an additional count of animal cruelty by causing an animal unnecessary harm.<\/p>\n<p>The video emerged on social media earlier this month, which resulted in the schoolboys being identified and charged with animal cruelty by police.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors alleged the pair removed a lure from the swan\u2019s neck before one of the teens force-fed a vape into the swan\u2019s beak.<\/p>\n<p>The other teenager allegedly hit the swan on the head.<\/p>\n<p>Originally published as <a class=\"body-link\"
