A home in Adelaide\u2019s inner northeast has been destroyed in a ferocious blaze which caused around $2 million in damages. <\/p>\n
Emergency crews were called to Joslin just before 3.20pm on Friday after a house on Fourth Ave went up in flames during renovations at the property. <\/p>\n
By the time firefighters arrived on scene the house was engulfed in flames sending clouds of thick black smoke up into the sky.<\/p>\n
It took 35 firefighters and three commanders 45 minutes to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to neighbouring properties.<\/p>\n
Firefighters worked to contain the blaze while contending with electrical hazards, a high fuel load, and the roof and walls collapsing on all sides of the building.<\/p>\n
Witness Sophie Staunton said there was an \u201ceerie feeling\u201d on the street as the fire broke out. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt was crazy, there were people everywhere,\u201d she told 7News. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s not just losing a house, it\u2019s losing memories and everything.\u201d<\/p>\n
Fire cause investigators attended the scene while crews continued extinguishing hotspots for several hours. <\/p>\n
The fire was caused by building materials igniting during building works at the property.<\/p>\n
MFS commander Declan Dwyer said the cause was accidental as there were \u201ca lot of combustibles\u201d on the property.<\/p>\n
