Photo: Abesty, CC BY-SA 4.0.<\/p>\n<p>The South Coast Line train and two nearby services were brought to a halt around 4:30pm on Aug. 14 when live 1,500-volt wiring fell onto the train, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sydneytimes.net.au\/state-politics-and-government\/nsw-state-government\/sydney-trains-back-on-track-after-overnight-repairs-follow-friday-wiring-chaos\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sydney Times<\/a>. Technicians are continuing to investigate the root cause over the weekend. This is at least the third time overhead wiring has come down on the Sydney network since May 2025, following incidents near Strathfield and Artarmon that Railway Supply covered at the time; the announcement does not specify whether Friday\u2019s failure is connected to those earlier events.<\/p>\n<p>Trains running again after an overnight fix<\/p>\n<p>Emergency repair crews worked through the night to restore all six affected lines between Redfern and Erskineville, allowing weekend services to operate on schedule.
