{"id":74282,"date":"2026-08-18T01:29:07","date_gmt":"2026-08-18T01:29:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/74282\/"},"modified":"2026-08-18T01:29:07","modified_gmt":"2026-08-18T01:29:07","slug":"work-poised-to-begin-on-230m-super-club-in-sydneys-inner-west","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/74282\/","title":{"rendered":"Work Poised to Begin on $230m \u2018Super Club\u2019 in Sydney\u2019s Inner-West"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Early works are poised to begin on an $230-million \u201csuper club\u201d in Sydney\u2019s inner-west.<\/p>\n<p>Under the plans for Burwood RSL Club, a 14-storey, 200-key hotel with a rooftop bar will top the club\u2019s stepped four-level entertainment podium.<\/p>\n<p>That podium would step up to three levels east towards Shaftesbury Road to accommodate the site\u2019s incline.<\/p>\n<p>It will include restaurants, lounges, children\u2019s play spaces and an 800-capacity theatre and conference centre, and be delivered as Stage 1 of the development.<\/p>\n<p>Stage 2 is to comprise the 4.5-star hotel tower, lap pool, restaurant and outdoor terraces.<\/p>\n<p>Branded restaurants, themed bars, a gym, creche and microbrewery are also part of the plans, and six basement levels will accommodate 1250 car parks.<\/p>\n<p>The new facilites will have an events capacity of 1000 people and up to 500 people in its show room.<\/p>\n<p>The existing facilities at 96 Shaftesbury Road\u2014home to the Burwood RSL Club since 1950\u2014would be closed and sold after the club moves to the new site on the corner of Shaftesbury Road and George Street.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/burwood_club-mid-edit.jpg\" alt=\"\u201cOur design reimagines the Club as a day-night entertainment destination, catering to a broad demographic,\u201d he said.\"\/>\u25b2 Buchan director Anthony Palamara called the club a day-night entertainment destination and said it would cater to a wide demographic.<\/p>\n<p>The relocated 11,270sq m site is next to the train line and less than 500m from the Burwood Station. It is about 12km by road for the Sydney CBD.<\/p>\n<p>Architecture firm Buchan, which joined the project in 2015, has designed a part-Federation brickwork, part-contemporary bronze detail building.<\/p>\n<p>Buchan director Anthony Palamara said the project was not a \u201clarger version of the traditional RSL\u201d but rather\u00a0a \u201cvertical mixed-use precinct\u201d at Burwood\u2019s town centre.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur design reimagines the club as a day-night entertainment destination, catering to a broad demographic,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Homes, a scout hall, college and travel agency are to be demolished to make way for the project, which was approved in 2022 as a State Significant Development.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theurbandeveloper.com\/articles\/burwood-rsl-ramps-up-209m-development-plans\" data-mce-href=\"https:\/\/www.theurbandeveloper.com\/articles\/burwood-rsl-ramps-up-209m-development-plans\" data-mce- rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Burwood RSL had been buying up lots at the corner block since 2006<\/a> in its bid to amalgamate the site.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Early works are poised to begin on an $230-million \u201csuper club\u201d in Sydney\u2019s inner-west.
