Collingwood will be without defender Isaac Quaynor for their clash with Brisbane, while Pat Lipinski and Harry Perryman have been held back for another week.<\/p>\n

Locked into a wildcard spot, the Magpies face a dilemma about how they approach Friday night’s clash with the Lions at the MCG.<\/p>\n

Due to finishing in the seventh to 10th bracket, Collingwood don’t earn a week off heading into finals and will need to carefully manage their players this weekend.<\/p>\n

Quaynor suffered a minor glute injury in Saturday night’s thrilling draw against Hawthorn and has been ruled out.<\/p>\n

Lipinski (calf) and Perryman (hamstring) were in contention to return, but won’t take on the Lions.<\/p>\n

Jeremy Howe (arm), Brayden Maynard (shoulder) and Steele Sidebottom (illness) will be assessed after training on Wednesday to decide whether they return.<\/p>\n

Collingwood could opt to rest other players despite the AFL warning clubs against doing that in a memo sent by football boss Greg Swann.<\/p>\n

The Lions have listed co-captain Hugh McCluggage (calf) as one week and will be a chance to be back for their first final.<\/p>\n

At Port Adelaide, star Jason Horne-Francis has a broken toe and will miss the Power’s season-closing match against Essendon on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Despite pushing hard for a likely farewell match at Port, Zak Butters is almost no chance of returning to play the Bombers.<\/p>\n

Butters is almost certainly leaving Port during the trade period with the Western Bulldogs, Collingwood, Geelong and Richmond fighting hard for his services.<\/p>\n

Bombers ace Sam Durham has been ruled out of taking on the Power due to ‘general soreness’.<\/p>\n

If Essendon lose they will claim their first wooden spoon since 2016, giving them the No.1 pick in this year’s draft.<\/p>\n

After a bitterly disappointing year on the field, Gold Coast will finish off their season without star recruit Christian Petracca.<\/p>\n

The former Melbourne star has an injured foot and won’t feature in the Suns’ dead-rubber against St Kilda on Thursday night.<\/p>\n
