The cause of death of a Thai teenager, who was allegedly murdered by an Australian man has been revealed. <\/p>\n
Tunchanok \u2018Cake\u2019 Donhomla, 17, was found stuffed naked inside a suitcase dumped near railway tracks close to Pattaya Beach on June 25. <\/p>\n
Australian man Simon Carman, 46, was arrested at the Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok while trying to board a flight to Perth.<\/p>\n
He has been charged with the teenager\u2019s murder and remains in custody. <\/p>\n
Speaking to the ABC, Thailand Police Colonel Anek Srathongyoo confirmed the teenager died from suffocation. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe autopsy report said that Cake had a brain injury and she suffocated,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
\u201cShe had no other injuries.\u201d <\/p>\n
He said there was allegedly DNA \u201cfound on Cake\u2019s body\u201d that matched Carman\u2019s. <\/p>\n
\u201cI think by this Friday (August 21) we will conclude our investigation and submit the files to the prosecutor,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
\u201cI think we have collected 100 per cent of the evidence. Once it is brought before the court, the court can consider imposing a sentence quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to Mr Srathongyoo, Thai prosecutors have until September 18 to indict Carman. <\/p>\n
A friend reported the teen missing after walking off with a man, with police tracking her using CCTV footage and allegedly seeing her enter the Australian\u2019s building.<\/p>\n
At about 11pm local time on Friday, the teenager\u2019s naked body was found stuffed into a suitcase alongside a railway line \u2013 about 10 minutes from the hotel where she was last seen.<\/p>\n
Carman claimed the teenager\u2019s strangulation death was in an act of \u201cself defence\u201d.<\/p>\n
The heartbroken family of the teenager said they were relieved by the development of the case, with the teenager\u2019s father explaining he didn\u2019t have inside access into the proceedings. <\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t have the legal knowledge or the money to pursue all these proceedings myself, so I have to rely on the media,\u201d dad Thongchai Donhomla told the ABC. <\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t ask for much. I just hope my child gets the justice she deserves.\u201d <\/p>\n
At the time of the alleged murder, Mr Donhomla said he was \u201cdeeply saddened\u201d by his daughter\u2019s death. <\/p>\n
\u201cMy daughter had no mother, so whenever she wanted anything, she would find a way herself, and she always helped \u2060me too,\u201d he said per Reuters. <\/p>\n
Her family said they don\u2019t believe Carman\u2019s allegations of self defence and called for the death penalty. <\/p>\n
\u201cI told the police I want him executed. As a mother, I don\u2019t know what else to say. I just want him executed,\u201d the teenager\u2019s stepmother, Oradee Bussarakum said at the time.<\/p>\n
\u201cI asked the police if I could hit him, if I could beat him<\/p>\n
\u201cPlease, just let me.
