Melbourne City have added some creativity and flair to their midfielder ahead of the new season, signing Danish midfielder Emiliano Marcondes for the 2026\/27 campaign.<\/p>\n

The 31-year-old joins City from English Championship club Norwich City with more than 300 senior appearances across spells in Denmark and England, with the midfielder already in Melbourne and training with Aurelio Vidmar\u2019s side.<\/p>\n

Marcondes came through FC Nordsj\u00e6lland\u2019s academy and made 131 first-team appearances for the Danish club, scoring 42 goals before moving to England in 2018.<\/p>\n

He subsequently played for Brentford, Bournemouth and Norwich, making more than 150 Championship appearances.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m really happy to be joining Melbourne City and excited for this new challenge in Australia,\u201d Marcondes said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d heard a lot of positive things about the Club, the style of football the team wants to play and the ambition that exists here, and my first impressions since arriving have only reinforced that.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve always enjoyed playing in teams that want to control the ball and play positive football, so I\u2019m excited to be here working with my new teammates and the coaching staff, and will do everything I can to help bring success to the Club.\u201d<\/p>\n

One of the highlights of his time in England came with Brentford in 2021, when he scored in the Championship Play-Off Final as the club secured promotion to the Premier League for the first time in 74 years.<\/p>\n

Marcondes, who primarily operates between the lines, is regarded as a creative midfielder capable of unlocking defences with his movement and passing.<\/p>\n

Melbourne City Director of Football Michael Petrillo said Marcondes\u2019 experience and creativity would strengthen the club\u2019s attacking options.<\/p>\n
