{"id":76400,"date":"2026-08-20T07:16:09","date_gmt":"2026-08-20T07:16:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/76400\/"},"modified":"2026-08-20T07:16:09","modified_gmt":"2026-08-20T07:16:09","slug":"sex-crimes-detectives-told-of-drug-use-in-sydney-swans-hotel-room","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/76400\/","title":{"rendered":"Sex crimes detectives told of drug use in Sydney Swans hotel room"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Detectives investigating a sexual assault scandal engulfing the Sydney Swans have been told players paid female adult entertainers to consume drugs off their bodies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Several adult entertainers are understood to have joined players at Melbourne&#8217;s Pullman Hotel after being hired in the hours after the Swans&#8217; win against Essendon on Sunday night.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">On Wednesday, the Swans stood down five players for the rest of the AFL season \u2014 vice captain Isaac Heeney, Chad Warner, James Jordan, Riley Bice and Nick Blakey \u2014 for breaching club standards for drinking and bringing women to the hotel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">That came as a separate police investigation into an alleged sexual assault at the hotel expanded with detectives flying to NSW yesterday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Multiple senior police sources have told the ABC they understand an arrangement was reached in a hotel room for players to pay extra to take drugs, believed to be cocaine, from the women&#8217;s breasts and buttocks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">It is not clear how many or which players allegedly participated.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Police are investigating a report of sexual assault, which the ABC understands centres on a player allegedly touching one of the women without her consent.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"The outside of the Pullman hotel, with a sign visible.\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/6263f19552db0642b3c7419fbf762f40.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">Police were called to the Pullman Hotel in East Melbourne on Monday morning. (ABC News: Danielle Bonica)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">It is understood the woman was seen leaving the hotel room in a distressed state with a Triple Zero (000) call made to police soon after.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Police were seen gathering evidence from the hotel on Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Sex crimes detectives have since taken over the investigation, with the alleged victim having made a formal statement to police.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Police have not made any arrests or laid charges.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">At a press conference at midday yesterday, <a class=\"Link_link__kR0xA Link_link__5eL5m ScreenReaderOnly_srLinkHint__OysWz Link_showVisited__C1Fea Link_showFocus__ALyv2\" href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2026-08-19\/afl-sydney-swans-ban-five-players-amid-police-investigation\/107053398\" data-component=\"Link\" data-uri=\"coremedia:\/\/article\/107053398\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Swans officials confirmed none of the five players had been formally interviewed as yet<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Chief executive Matthew Pavlich referred questions about whether the players had been drug tested to investigators, saying: &#8220;That matter is for police.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Loading&#8230;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">However, law enforcement sources dismissed that claim, saying police did not have the powers to drug test the players in this investigation as they were not &#8220;doing an activity where it is illegal to be under the influence&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Those activities typically include driving or operating heavy machinery.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;To say it&#8217;s part of the police investigation, it&#8217;s definitely not.
