{"id":76458,"date":"2026-08-20T08:25:32","date_gmt":"2026-08-20T08:25:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/76458\/"},"modified":"2026-08-20T08:25:32","modified_gmt":"2026-08-20T08:25:32","slug":"fc-ingolstadt-04-sign-socceroo-nishan-velupillay-from-victory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/76458\/","title":{"rendered":"FC Ingolstadt 04 sign Socceroo Nishan Velupillay from Victory"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Melbourne Victory academy graduate Nishan Velupillay has completed a move to German side FC Ingolstadt 04 for an undisclosed fee.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 25-year-old Socceroo departs Victory after seven years with his boyhood club, making 141 appearances and scoring 25 goals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Velupillay progressed through Victory\u2019s academy and NPL Victoria ranks before making his senior debut against Sydney FC in a Big Blue clash in May 2021.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">TRANSFER CENTRE: <a href=\"https:\/\/aleagues.com.au\/news\/isuzu-ute-a-league-2026-27-transfer-centre-ins-outs\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Isuzu UTE A-League 2026-27 Transfer Centre: Your club\u2019s moves<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He made 30 appearances during his first full season, helping Victory win the Australia Cup while also being named Young Player of the Year at the Victory Medal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Velupillay was part of the Victory squads that reached consecutive A-League Grand Finals in 2024 and 2025, while he captained the side in an Original Rivalry clash against Adelaide United during his final full season at the club.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Velupillay thanked Victory\u2019s coaches, staff, teammates, members and supporters for their role in his development.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI want to thank everyone connected with Melbourne Victory for making me the person that I am today,\u201d the Socceroo said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe coaches and staff have helped me develop and excel;
