A boy has been arrested over an alleged attempted sexual assault against two women, whose dogs were filmed chasing him away during the alleged attempt.<\/p>\n
The boy, 13, was taken into custody as part of a probe into the alleged incident in Kooyong last month, Victoria Police said in a statement.<\/p>\n
No charges have been laid.<\/p>\n
It is alleged that the boy approached two women near Gardiners Creek and attempted to sexually assault them.<\/p>\n
The two women were walking their dogs at time of the incident on July 14.<\/p>\n
The dogs were swift to act, chasing away the child and allowing the shaken women to escape the danger.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The incident sparked an \u201cextensive\u201d investigation.<\/p>\n
\u201cOver the past five weeks, detectives have pursued multiple lines of inquiry, including information provided by members of the public,\u201d Victoria Police said in a statement.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt approximately 7.30am this morning, detectives executed a search warrant at a residential address in the Boroondara area, where a 13-year-old boy was arrested.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe boy was taken from his home to a police station and interviewed by detectives.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was subsequently released pending further investigation, including inquiries into whether he may be linked to any other reported incidents of a similar nature.<\/p>\n
Andrew Wise, acting detective senior sergeant at the Bayside sexual offences and child abuse investigation team thanked members of the public who supported the investigation.<\/p>\n
