Anthony Albanese has admitted that his controversial appearance on the Bush Deep podcast with comedian Nikki Osborne in June was \u201can error\u201d and that, if he had his time again, he \u201cwouldn\u2019t have done that podcast\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister sparked a storm of criticism after he was \u00adinvolved in an innuendo-laden conversation<\/a> about his Japanese counterpart Sanae Takaichi and her gift of two melons. <\/p>\n

Having welcomed Osborne into the Lodge in Canberra, Mr Albanese told the comedian he \u201cgot a couple of \u00admelons\u201d with his hands cupped in front of his chest, adding \u201cshe\u00a0brought two \u2026 and they\u2019re beautiful\u201d.<\/p>\n

Mr Albanese also opened up during the podcast about his sex life with new wife Jodie Haydon, revealing a South Sydney Rabbitohs win was a \u201cgood aphrodisiac\u201d and admitted in a game of \u201cshag, marry, date\u201d that he would choose Kylie Minogue over Nicole Kidman and Rhonda Burchmore, \u00addeclaring \u201cshe\u2019s terrific\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou always need to do better and that\u2019s why initially, I made a very clear and unequivocal apology,\u201d the Prime Minister told the ABC\u2019s 7.30<\/a> on Thursday night.<\/p>\n

Mr Albanese said, in reflection on his mentor Tom Uren\u2019s advice, he continued to \u201clearn new things every day and to do better each and every day\u201d. When pressed on what he had learned from the appearance on the podcast, he said he had \u201clearned that I need to do better every day, and of course, if I had my time again, which you don\u2019t, then I wouldn\u2019t have done that podcast\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a view which is \u00adtrying to talk to as many people as possible, but clearly that was an error,\u201d Mr Albanese said.<\/p>\n
