If South Australia implements a minimum age restriction for e-bike riders, it would closely align with Queensland, which requires riders to be at least 16 years old and hold a valid driver\u2019s licence.<\/p>\n
Children aged 12 to 17 will need to be under direct adult supervision when riding e-bikes in Queensland.<\/p>\n
The new licensing rules are set to come into effect later this month.<\/p>\n
NSW has also moved to tighten its e-bike rules, with reforms set to restrict e-bikes to 250 watts from August, bringing the state in line with other jurisdictions.<\/p>\n
The NSW Government has also introduced Australia\u2019s first laws designed to clean up cluttered footpaths from shared e-bikes.<\/p>\n
Shared e-bike operators will now need to receive approval from Transport for NSW and council before providing their services.<\/p>\n
