Margot was diagnosed last Saturday after painful symptoms, including a stomach ache, led her parents Jesse and Nicole to take her for tests.<\/p>\n<p>Jesse Whinnen said a blood test produced surprising results and Margot was transferred to the hospital, where the family learned she had acute myeloid leukaemia. He said she will undergo four rounds of treatment and will likely remain in hospital for months.<\/p>\n<p>Margot\u2019s family plays for the local Sturt Lacrosse Club, and South Australia\u2019s lacrosse community held a fundraising fete in Brighton on Saturday. The event, called \u201cStick It 2 Leukaemia\u201d, drew hundreds of people in support of the Whinnen family.<\/p>\n<p>A GoFundMe page set up for the family has raised more than $63,000. Traci Mathwin, a director of Lacrosse South Australia, said support had arrived from across the globe, including from World Lacrosse.
