Highroyd, one of the remaining \u2018Witches\u2019 houses in Annandale has been sold.<\/p>\n

The late-Victorian Eclectic Gothic residence was recently listed with an $7.95m guide. <\/p>\n

It had previously been offered early last spring with $9.75m hopes held by the vendors, the founders of Australian skincare brand Ultraceuticals, Dr Geoffrey Heber, and his wife, Dr Deborah Davis.<\/p>\n

The now downsizing couple, who were among the first doctors to introduce and administer cosmetic injectables into Australia, paid $700,000 in 1989 for the grand dilapidated mansion.<\/p>\n

Their restoration of the six-bedroom, four-bathroom 1886 home was overseen by the architect David Springett of Paragrid Architects.<\/p>\n

They used the lower two floors to run their cosmetic medical practice, and the upper two floors to raise their young family.<\/p>\n

It was one of eight built by the master builder and developer John Young, before the 1890s depression ended his dream. <\/p>\n

Research by property writer Margie Blok indicated Young held a design competition for the site on Johnston St, which had been built 30.5m wide, with his intention of it becoming \u201cthe finest street in the colony\u201d.<\/p>\n

Highroyd includes an observation spire with city skyline views.<\/p>\n
