{"id":79135,"date":"2026-08-24T09:06:15","date_gmt":"2026-08-24T09:06:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/79135\/"},"modified":"2026-08-24T09:06:15","modified_gmt":"2026-08-24T09:06:15","slug":"oceanic-bar-and-grill-mandurah-foodies-flood-waterside-venue-following-1-3m-renovation-and-menu-revamp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/79135\/","title":{"rendered":"Oceanic Bar and Grill Mandurah: Foodies flood waterside venue following $1.3m renovation and menu revamp"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">There are few venues in WA that could compete with Mandurah\u2019s Oceanic Bar and Grill\u2019s million-dollar waterside views and now the inside has a million-dollar new look to match.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">One of Mandurah\u2019s biggest bars came into the experienced hands of multi-award-winning hospitality operator Daman Phull earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">Mr Phull quickly began a much needed $1.3 million renovation of the 600-person capacity venue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">On Saturday, Mr Phull, along with celebrity chef, food critic and Masterchef favourite, Andy Allen, was there to welcome patrons into the exquisitely finished building.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">\u201cIt\u2019s a beautiful location\u2026 I fell in love the day I came and visited,\u201d Mr Phull said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">\u201cI fell in love with the location, I thought, I want to work here, I want to be here, it\u2019s open, it\u2019s fresh, it\u2019s beautiful, and it\u2019s every publican\u2019s dream to have a location like this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">The bones of the building were still there, but under Mr Phull\u2019s keen eye, they had been primped, polished and turned into a proper WA beach bar ready to be enjoyed by excited diners.<\/p>\n<p>SEE THE PICTURES FROM OPENING NIGHT IN THE GALLERY BELOW<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">From the coastal chic furniture, to the bright and breezy nautical touches, the refurb was giving high-end Mediterranean resort.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">Diners are also in for a treat because the tired old menu was thrown away, with the chef starting completely from scratch.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">\u201cThere\u2019s not one dish from the old menu that is on the new menu,\u201d Mr Allen said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">\u201cEverything is incredible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">The new menu offerings include a juicy lobster roll topped with caviar, a massive Turkish flatbread scattered with spiced lamb, five types of oysters including an indulgent truffle mornay, the \u201cfry shack\u201d \u2013 chips loaded with either Greek toppings, an authentic Irish spice bag or butter chicken.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/6eb57c8aaa67aac36a5ef358e3fe9b631d0c95f8-16x9-x0y562w960h540.jpg\" alt=\"The seafood platter and the nachos.\" class=\"css-16r7l45-StyledImage en5ut4d0\"\/>Camera IconThe seafood platter and the nachos. Credit: Supplied<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">For those feeling hungry there were incredible sharing platters, one featured traditional antipasto ingredients, another seafood, and the third was a generous meat platter with ribs, wings, lamb cutlets, steak and chorizo.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/e3da9fae9524578f026772862838cfe6093ca909.jpg\" alt=\"The antipasto platter.\" class=\"css-16r7l45-StyledImage en5ut4d0\"\/>Camera IconThe antipasto platter. Credit: Supplied<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">And it wouldn\u2019t be a venue by the water in Mandurah if there wasn\u2019t a glorious seafood tower on offer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">Something new to Mandurah is the impressive looking chargrilled skewers \u2014 loaded with either lamb, wagyu or prawns.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">On opening night, despite the kitchen being absolutely under the pump, the feedback from diners was overwhelmingly positive.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">And Mr Phull knows food, he also operates The Wray Hotel in Fremantle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">The Wray was named best sporting entertainment venue at last year\u2019s Australian Hotels Association WA Hospitality Awards and best casual pub dining in 2024.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">Mr Phull had a message for punters who had given up on the OBG.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">\u201cThey should come back because it\u2019s brand-new menu, a brand-new venue, and every dish that is on the menu has been tested 10 times for the exact flavour,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">\u201cFrom the first bite diners should immediately recognise that they\u2019re coming back &#8211; that\u2019s the flavour that I want, that\u2019s the taste that I want.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">\u201cHospitality is in our blood.
