A Coles shopper was left baffled by a bizarre delivery<\/a> to her doorstep, prompting her to check her security cameras<\/a> to see exactly how it unfolded.<\/p>\n

Ashlea Rhodes told Yahoo News she orders groceries<\/a> through Uber Eats to help her when she needs to top up on supplies<\/a>, as it’s easier with her baby.<\/p>\n

But when her order arrived on Sunday afternoon at her home in Newcastle, NSW, she was stunned to see her items left loosely on the ground, with some items damaged or broken.<\/p>\n

Ashlea checked her Ring camera and saw the driver walking up to the house with all the items in a Coles bag \u2014 before emptying the contents of the bag onto the concrete and leaving with the bag.<\/p>\n

She said she even received a photo of the order on the Uber Eats app to confirm delivery.<\/p>\n

“It’s actually diabolical the fact he took and submitted the picture of his handy work,” she said, while stating that she found the whole thing amusing.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on the odd delivery, Ashlea revealed it’s exactly why she waits to receive an order before tipping the driver.<\/p>\n

“I occasionally will tip, especially if it’s really above and beyond service,” she said. “I might tip $3, but then I might tip $20 depending on the service.”<\/p>\n

She admits she recognises delivery drivers “don’t earn enough money for a lot of these jobs,” so she considers tipping on especially large and heavy orders.<\/p>\n

However, for the latest delivery, she reinforces her opinion on tipping, considering, “this was not necessarily great service.”<\/p>\n

Customer complains to Uber Eats<\/p>\n

Along with the damaged items, there were also some things missing from Ashlea’s order.<\/p>\n

She has since reached out to Uber, and the company refunded her $28.98 of her initial $103 order.<\/p>\n

She stressed that she does not want the driver to be subjected to a “witch hunt”, saying the incident should instead serve as a lesson in “what not to do”.<\/p>\n

If no paper bags were available, she said, the driver could have knocked and given her a chance to come up with a solution or compensate him for the bag.<\/p>\n

“I’m not gonna be name-calling him, or talking bad about him, for something that was just a silly mistake, a silly choice to make. At the end of the day, no one was hurt.<\/p>\n

“It’s just an inconvenience.”<\/p>\n
