{"id":79317,"date":"2026-08-24T15:43:05","date_gmt":"2026-08-24T15:43:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/79317\/"},"modified":"2026-08-24T15:43:05","modified_gmt":"2026-08-24T15:43:05","slug":"weather-australia-punchy-thunderstorms-to-hit-nsw-and-victoria-severe-warnings-issued","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/79317\/","title":{"rendered":"Weather Australia: \u2018Punchy\u2019 thunderstorms to hit NSW and Victoria, severe warnings issued"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Areas either side of the NSW-Victoria border are under severe rainfall warnings for Tuesday as \u201cpunchy\u201d thunderstorms could hit inland parts of NSW as well.<\/p>\n<p>Up to 60mm of rain is possible in parts of the Snowy Mountains and Victoria\u2019s northeast ranges early Tuesday morning, prompting a flash flood warning from the Bureau of Meteorology.<\/p>\n<p>While the heavy rain should ease by Tuesday afternoon, severe thunderstorms may follow.<\/p>\n<p>Meteorologist Angus Hines said most of the geographic area of NSW would be drenched on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA wet Tuesday lies in store for almost all of NSW \u2026 depending on which side of the Great Dividing Range you live on,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Inland areas can expect lots of rain, as well as thunderstorms in the morning, all the way from Tamworth down to the west of the ACT which could turn to severe thunderstorms.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome thunderstorms could be really punchy, bringing heavy rainfall, damaging winds and even some large hail stones if you\u2019re on the eastern side,\u201d Mr Hines said.<\/p>\n<p>Sydney is forecast for 5 to 10mm of rain Tuesday.
