train lines on Tuesday morning due to emergency works at a popular station.<\/p>\n<p>Commuters on the T1 and T9 lines through Chatswood have been warned to allow an extra 45 minutes to their usual morning journey and opt for buses and metro services where possible.<\/p>\n<p>Chatswood station is currently undergoing urgent wiring repairs, which are expected to continue for hours.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cT1 Western Line trains that normally go onto the T1 North Shore Line towards Hornsby and Berowra will continue as timetabled however stops may change at short notice,\u201d Transport for NSW said.<\/p>\n<p>Those commuting on the T1 North Shore Line have been advised to change at Central or North Sydney to continue their journey and instead use the metro to travel between the city and Chatswood.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome trains going away from the City will depart from Intercity platforms at Central,\u201d TFNSW said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Customers from Artarmon, St Leonards, Wollstonecraft or Waverton travelling towards the city can catch a train towards Hornsby and change at Chatswood for metro.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>An urgent rail shuttle service has been established between Gordon and Hornsby in both directions, while there are also &#8220;limited&#8221; buses replacing trains from Gordon to Chatswood.<\/p>\n<p>Extra metro services are in place to meet the demand of customers making alternate routes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrains that normally terminate at North Sydney and Berowra continue as tabled while Train services that normally end\/start from Lindfield and Gordan will now end\/start from North Sydney,\u201d TFNSW said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Commuters have been warned that some scheduled trains will be cancelled to reduce congestion.<\/p>\n<p>TFNSW has estimated the works will be finished by 11am, but trains will likely take a little longer to resume like normal.<\/p>\n<p>Sydney Trains chief executive Matt Longland told the ABC that a fault in tension had led to the urgent repairs.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Longland said while primary works had been completed, secondary repairs were ongoing.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have very heavy weights that hang off to the side that keep the tension, keep the wires held up,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of those counterweights failed last night, so the crews have been on track through the night.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re still working through the repairs at the moment, but it\u2019s likely to be later this morning until that work\u2019s completed and they test the wiring system and
