Detectives have found a body in the search for a father allegedly shot over a debt in Melbourne\u2019s northwest last week.<\/p>\n

Police announced on Wednesday they had found a body, which is yet to be formally identified, as part of the investigation into the missing 37-year-old Khaled Malas.<\/p>\n

Mr Malas was allegedly shot by Mohammed Aboueid, 56, at semirural Wildwood on August 19.<\/p>\n

He has not been seen since. <\/p>\n

On Wednesday, Victorian Police confirmed they had found a body about 15km from Wildwood.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe yet-to-be-formally identified remains were found around 3pm covered in grass on Havelock Road in Clarkefield,\u201d a police spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe coroner has been advised and a post-mortem will occur in due course.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr Aboueid has been charged with intentionally causing serious injury but police said the charges will be assessed after a post-mortem is performed. <\/p>\n

\u201cPolice believe the parties involved were known to each other,\u201d the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

Police initially appealed for any information on the movements of a black Mitsubishi Triton seen around Greenvale, Sunbury, Bulla, Oaklands Junction, or Wildwood on the night of August 19 into the early morning of August 20.<\/p>\n

Mr Malas has three children, and the Herald Sun reports he went from his home in Melbourne\u2019s northern suburbs, to Wildwood in the northwest, with two associates because of a debt.<\/p>\n

It is believed Mr Malas was allegedly shot in the torso. His clothes were found burnt on the side of a road outside Wildwood the next morning.<\/p>\n
