Pauline Hanson faced off against Nationals Leader Matt Canavan at the 2026 National Bush Summit in Dubbo, a day after her lieutenant Barnaby Joyce answered questions on drought preparedness.<\/p>\n
Ms Hanson says the conservative side of politics should work together to defeat Labor.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur enemy now, and I\u2019m telling you, who\u2019s ruining this country is the Labor-Greens. That\u2019s why we, as the conservative side, have to start working together,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n
During a tense moment, Ms Hanson demands Mr Cananvan to take her seriously, saying, <\/p>\n
\u201cStop knocking me.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt just annoys me, you know, to to make me as if I\u2019m irrelevant in this, as if I\u2019ve got nothing to offer politics,\u201d she said, and notes One Nation opposed net zero before the Coalition.<\/p>\n
Mr Canavan said with more than half of Australia\u2019s population living in just five cities, it was time to develop the rest of the nation.<\/p>\n
Earlier, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was heckled at the Bush Summit, copping a grilling on issues including renewable energy and over-regulation of businessnes in the bush.<\/p>\n
He was also asked about migration and whether Labor\u2019s upcoming overhaul is a response to the rise of One Nation and Pauline Hanson.
Meanwhile, Opposition Leader Angus Taylor doubled down against the use of agricultural land for carbon farming after the Clean Energy Finance Corporation involvement in helping a British consortium purchase Rushy Lagoon, one of Australia\u2019s biggest farms in Tasmania.<\/p>\n
The Opposition Leader labelled the conversion as \u201cdisgrace\u201d and vowed that \u201cit will not happen under a Taylor-Canavan government.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe need to use every bit of productive agricultural land we can in this country for growing food and fiber,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The Sunday Telegraph\u2019s editor Anna Caldwell said that while Mr Taylor is \u201ca country boy,\u201d she said One Nation is \u201coutpacing you,\u201d and asked for three things the Coalition wants to do that both One Nation \u201ccan\u2019t or wont\u201d.<\/p>\n
Mr Taylor clapped back with a four-point plan – reverse Labor\u2019s tax changes, reduce the cost of energy, cap permanent immigration based on housing supply and limit welfare programs like the NDIS to Australian citizens.<\/p>\n
NSW and Australia Premier Chris Minns, South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas and Western Australia Deputy Premier Rita Safiotti also joined the panel, with migration, bird flu, rising crime levels and the dire state of regional roads discussed. <\/p>\n
