A WA construction worker who won an eye-watering near $650k Lotto prize says he plans on splitting it with his best mate and treating their wives to an Italian dinner feast.<\/p>\n
The winner, who usually purchases his weekly ticket from a retailer in Mundaring, says a special request by his wife to go to the butcher\u2019s meant he switched up his usual routine and bought his ticket elsewhere.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy wife said she wanted a ribeye steak for dinner to celebrate our anniversary, so when I headed to my favourite butcher, I stopped into Nextra Boutiques in Forrestfield to pick up my Lotto ticket,\u201d he began.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy best friend and I each buy a Slikpik 18 and send photos of our tickets to each other every week, so we\u2019ll be splitting the prize down the middle.\u201d<\/p>\n
The best mates have shared tickets for seven years and admitted they were both \u201cgobsmacked\u201d when they discovered the win.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy friend called me, and he never calls me,\u201d the other winner laughed.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo I said, \u2018I hope you\u2019re calling to tell me I can retire.\u201d<\/p>\n
The life-changing prize will help both men tick off long-held goals, with both men planning to enjoy overseas holidays.<\/p>\n
One of the winners is also looking forward to retiring and going on more cruises, while the other plans to spend his windfall on paying off his mortgage and helping his children buy a home of their own.<\/p>\n
But for now, the pair are keeping their celebrations simple.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor now, we\u2019ll take our wives out for an Italian dinner to celebrate,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n
The mates were among three WA players to win a Division One prize in last Saturday\u2019s draw, with a self-employed Beechboro man in his 60s also winning big.<\/p>\n
