Fears are growing for two Queensland parents that may be among the Australians that have been impacted by the devastating flash flooding in Nepal. <\/p>\n
Brisbane father Narayan Panthi and Queensland mother Kanagamah Sundrasan are among the 39 missing Australians that have been unaccounted for following a deadly flash flood across Nepal and Tibet, China that killed hundreds of people on Wednesday, August 26. <\/p>\n
The latest figures show the official death toll has risen to 392, while around 1400 people remain unaccounted for.<\/p>\n
candlelight vigil will be held at King George Square on Sunday at 6pm.<\/p>\n
Mr Panthi was about to visit Mount Kailash on a pilgrimage when floodwaters struck.<\/p>\n
He was in the border town of Timure, which is located in a river valley in the Himalayas along the Bhote Koshi River, at least two hours before the floodwaters struck the town.<\/p>\n
He shared a video to social media of the town before it was inundated by floodwaters.<\/p>\n
His last known contact with his family was when he arrived at the Nepal-China border crossing when he advised that he had a new SIM card and he was crossing the border into China.<\/p>\n
A prominent member of the Nepalese community in Brisbane, Mr Panthi served as the secretary of the Queensland Nepalese Cultural Centre.<\/p>\n
As of Friday morning, he has yet to make contact with his family. <\/p>\n
Kanagamah Sundrasan, who is a Queensland business owner and mother of two, is among the latest missing Australians to be identified.<\/p>\n
Her daughter Swaatika Kanniah said her mother was about to embark on a pilgrimage to Mount Kailash when the floodwaters struck. <\/p>\n
She described her mum as \u201cthe kindest woman ever\u201d and \u201cvery giving\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been a bit worrying because we haven\u2019t been able to contact her yet; it\u2019s been really hard to grab hold of anyone who has any information,\u201d Ms Kanniah told the ABC. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe really want her to come back home and we miss her, like, a lot.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe doesn\u2019t really go on trips like this; that\u2019s why it was very exciting for her to travel and do this thing that she always wanted to do.\u201d<\/p>\n
