People living in Sydney\u2019s southwest have been left shaken today after a 3.4 magnitude earthquake struck the area.<\/p>\n
As on Friday afternoon, just under 400 people had submitted reports of having felt the impact to the government website, with people describing feeling as though somebody had crashed into their home.<\/p>\n
The earthquake\u2019s epicentre is reported as having been close to Douglas Park, south of Sydney, with a depth of three kilometres.<\/p>\n
According to the Geoscience Australia website, the quake struck shortly after 1pm AEST, near Appin.<\/p>\n
The aftermath saw homeowners describe the moment shifting tectonic plates interrupted their Friday afternoons.<\/p>\n
David Baker, who runs a Facebook page chronicling his camping trips, was watching television in his 5th floor unit n Campbelltown when the quake hit.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve never felt anything quite like it before,\u201d he said. \u201cIt lasted for about 10 seconds and felt like the whole block of units was shaking.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy wife immediately said it must be an earthquake.<\/p>\n
\u201cThankfully, nothing in the unit was damaged but it was definitely quite a shake.\u201d<\/p>\n
Others posted their experiences on social media.<\/p>\n
\u201cI thought someone crashed into my front room, everything shook,\u201d one person wrote.<\/p>\n
\u201cI felt like a big gust of wind shook my house and realise (sic) there ain\u2019t no wind,\u201d
another added.<\/p>\n
