The special celebration featured 7NEWS editor Naomi Worthy with five-month-old Eli; chief of staff and editorial producer Kate McGrath with seven-month-old Wilbur; chief sport reporter Mitch Cleary with 11-week-old Sophia; reporter Sara Jones with newborn son Leo; reporter Bethan Yeoman with four-month-old Archie; chief crime editor Cassie Zervos with five-month-old Lucy; weekend sport presenter Theo Doropoulos with six-month-old Zac; and presenter and reporter Melina Sarris with 11-month-old Clover.<\/p>\n
For many, the past year has brought about some of the biggest changes in their lives.<\/p>\n
McGrath revealed she was four months pregnant when she was offered a role last year.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen 7NEWS approached me to join the team last year, I said, \u2018I\u2019d love to but I warn you, I\u2019m four months pregnant!\u2019,\u201d McGrath said.<\/p>\n
McGrath said 7NEWS Melbourne news director Chris Salter immediately reassured her.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe said, \u2018We want you on the team, we\u2019ll support you during your pregnancy and birth and welcome you back when you\u2019re ready\u2019,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Now celebrating her first Mother\u2019s Day as a mother of two, McGrath said family life was beautifully chaotic.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s no place I\u2019d rather be than at home with my family,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt means chaos, lots of laundry, lots of activities, daily impromptu concerts, and so many big hugs and kisses from my favourite people.\u201d<\/p>\n
For Worthy, becoming a parent has changed her entire outlook on life.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo me, being a parent is a vocation,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a huge privilege to be responsible for the nurturing and education of another human being, and I hope I never forget that.<\/p>\n
\u201cBeing a parent helps me to look beyond the trivial day-to-day things and towards the bigger picture and what\u2019s really important in life.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jones, photographed with her 13-day-old son Leo, described motherhood as both demanding and deeply rewarding.<\/p>\n
\u201cBeing a parent means everything to me,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI feel like life truly started after becoming a mum. It\u2019s fulfilling, demanding, but the most rewarding job I\u2019ve ever had.\u201d<\/p>\n
Zervos said becoming a mother had taught her to appreciate the little things in life.<\/p>\n
\u201cLucy has taught me to slow down, put my phone away and be present,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou really have to earn a smile and a giggle \u2014 it really is the best, and most challenging, job in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n
Zervos also reflected on how becoming a mother had deepened her appreciation for her own mother.<\/p>\n
\u201cParenthood has also made me appreciate and admire my own mum on a whole new level,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe sacrifices she\u2019s made over the years to raise my brother and I, it\u2019s something I will never take for granted.<\/p>\n
\u201cMums really are the best.\u201d<\/p>\n
For Cleary, the arrival of daughter Sophia has brought both joy and perspective.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s incredibly rewarding and teaching us a new skillset every day,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the past few weeks, seeing Sophia smile and interact more makes you forget a long day pretty quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n
But despite the celebrations, the realities of working in television news remain unchanged, even on Mother\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n
\u201cNews stops for no one,\u201d Doropoulos said as he discussed his plans to spend the morning with his family before heading into work.<\/p>\n
For Sarris, this year\u2019s celebration holds special significance as her first Mother\u2019s Day as a family of four.<\/p>\n
\u201cBeing their mum is far more fun and fulfilling than I ever could have imagined,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey remind me to slow down and enjoy the little moments. These two tiny humans are pure magic.\u201d<\/p>\n
