The heartbroken father of Molly Ticehurst says he will grieve the loss of his daughter for the rest of his life, telling her killer he hopes her screams \u201ckeep you awake\u201d every night.<\/p>\n
Daniel Billings has pleaded guilty to murdering Ms Ticehurst inside her Forbes home in April 2024. <\/p>\n
He broke into her home and stabbed her while he was on bail, just two weeks after she made sexual assault and domestic violence allegations against him to police.<\/p>\n
The mother of one and childcare worker was just 28 years old. <\/p>\n
Her father, Tony Ticehurst, spoke of his crushing grief during a heartwrenching victim impact statement in Orange Court on Thursday.<\/p>\n
\u201cNot only was Molly my daughter, she was my best friend,\u201d Mr Ticehurst told the court.<\/p>\n
\u201cMolly\u2019s life was not complete. She had such a big heart and had so much love to give.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe lost her life because she let the wrong person into her life. When she realised this, she tried to remove him \u2026 that is why she lost her life.\u201d<\/p>\n
Billings sat in the courtroom as Mr Ticehurst said his daughter \u201cshould have been safe\u201d, telling the court he and his family were now \u201cincomplete\u201d.<\/p>\n
Mr Ticehurst said he believed once Billings served his sentence, the \u201cuniverse will judge you\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cI hope that every night, Molly\u2019s screams keep you awake,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI doubt that there will be a golden ladder reaching down for you.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Ticehurst choked up while reading out the statement, telling the court that every day now felt like he was \u201cwaking into a nightmare\u201d. <\/p>\n
\u201cPeople often ask me, \u2018How are you Tony?\u2019 – I always say, \u2018Yeah, I\u2019m good\u2019, but what I really want to say is, \u2018I\u2019m no longer who I was. No, I\u2019m not good\u2019,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201c\u2018There is nothing you can do to fix this. I\u2019m not OK, I\u2019m really, really not OK.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd then I think of my girl and ask myself, why?\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Ticehurst\u2019s mother, Kate Ticehurst, said she was heartbroken to have lost her best friend. <\/p>\n
\u201cMy family has been devastated since the morning of April 22, 2024, when a selfish person did a horrendous act and ended my beautiful daughter\u2019s life,\u201d Ms Ticehurst said in a statement read to the court on her behalf.<\/p>\n
\u201cMolly\u2019s life was taken far too soon in a violent, malicious manner for no reason other than selfishness.
\u201cMolly was my entire world, and now all I have is memories.\u201d<\/p>\n
She said her life was now plagued by sleepless nights and tears that \u201cnever stop\u201d, and heartbreak, sadness and anger that would never go away.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are no word to describe how my life has been turned upside down,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI would like to know the reason he did this. Why?\u201d<\/p>\n
Killer\u2019s videos before murder<\/p>\n
Billings said he was \u201cgonna go crazy\u201d in a series of videos he recorded before he killed Ms Ticehurst.<\/p>\n
Audio of the videos, played to the court on Thursday, portray a rambling Billings talking about how he felt \u201cbacked into a corner\u201d. <\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m not a f–king woman beater or anything\u2026 I don\u2019t know what I\u2019m gonna do tonight, but nothing f–king good,\u201d Billings says.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf I\u2019m going to be punished either way, then OK, I\u2019m gonna go crazy.<\/p>\n
\u201cI just\u2026feel backed into a corner and I think like if they want\u2026to make me out to be this this or that\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Ticehurst had made allegations of domestic violence and sexual assault by Billings just weeks before he killed her. <\/p>\n
Billings was arrested the same day and denied sexually assaulting or threatening her.<\/p>\n
He admitted to police that he killed their dog after they broke up in June 2023, as \u201che had nowhere to put the dog\u201d, according to a statement of agreed facts seen by NewsWire.<\/p>\n
Mr Ticehurst previously expressed his disappointment as Billings\u2019 case was riddled with delays. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt seems to me that in life, the system let Molly down, and in death continues the same route,\u201d Mr Ticehurst previously told the ABC.<\/p>\n
