(ABC News: Mya Kordic)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;I&#8217;m trying to get back to my business, but it&#8217;s very hard, because you need a lot of money as well.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;Every day I&#8217;m looking in the marketplace, and for any barber shop for sale, but it&#8217;s hard to find.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2025-09-06\/businesses-call-for-financial-aid-after-morley-market-fire\/105733978\" data-component=\"FullBleedLink\" class=\"RelatedCard_link__rsgR9 FullBleedLink_root__lTw_U interactive_focusContext__yRhc_ interactive_defaults__AKxUU FullBleedLink_showVisited__g3Xvz\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Morley Market businesses call for financial aid<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP RelatedCard_synopsis__cFwMW Typography_sizeMobile14__u7TGe Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">Business owners affected by a fire which gutted a shopping centre in Perth&#8217;s north-east are calling for state government support as they begin the recovery process.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Ms Fakhar has moved into a smaller site nearby, but it&#8217;s an ongoing battle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;Emotionally I&#8217;ve tried to get back to normal, but still it&#8217;s not normal or the same as before.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;I rebuilt it, not as big as before, not as equipped as before, but I tried my best to have a nice place for my clients again.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Cause still unknown<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">In a bitter blow to business owners, authorities could not determine the cause of the fire because of the severe level of damage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">A Department of Fire and Emergency Services debrief document written after the blaze, seen by the ABC, details problems identified during its investigation, including that a &#8220;local alarm&#8221; was not operational.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"A burnt market sign.\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/784e489763d94262766d47387416936c.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">The fire quickly took hold of the building in September 2025. (ABC News: Mya Kordic)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;It&#8217;s not just about money or compensation, it&#8217;s about something like this not happening again, and not putting other people&#8217;s lives in danger,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>Insurance proving tricky<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">A number of business owners say they have run into problems getting any of what they lost back through insurance, with some left to regret not having taken out contents protection.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;That was my biggest mistake,&#8221; Mr Frahim said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;I had public liability insurance for the shop, but not the contents.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;Three or four times I called [the insurance company], and the receptionist [said] he will call me, but I never got a call back.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Demolition equipment pulls apart a fire-ravaged building\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/e9025c8cbaddd38cd5d7fe949eb33728.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">The market was demolished after fire gutted the building.
