A philanthropist who once mingled among models and sporting legends has been accused of rape after being convicted of a serious domestic violence assault and dangerous driving charges.<\/p>\n
Once living the high life, anti-bullying charity founder Conan Martin Visser\u2019s fall from grace ignited when his serious domestic violence crimes were exposed.<\/p>\n
In 2020, Visser, who founded the now defunct charity I Can I Will, pleaded guilty to assaulting his then-girlfriend in her apartment.<\/p>\n
Now, Visser is facing fresh charges in the Brisbane District Court including three counts of rape and one count each of choking, suffocation or strangulation, assault occasioning bodily harm, and threatening violence by discharging firearms or other acts. <\/p>\n
The alleged offences, relate to a separate complainant than the woman targeted in his prior domestic violence offending.<\/p>\n
Awaiting those matters and adding to his list of existing offences, the now social media manager and documentary filmmaker appeared before Brisbane District Court on Thursday for breaching a 2022 suspended sentence regarding drug supply and possession.<\/p>\n
On Thursday, the court was told Visser received a nine-month jail term, suspended for two years, in 2022 after pleading guilty to supplying small amounts of cocaine to a friend.<\/p>\n
At the time, Visser was already serving a 12-month intensive correction order in the community for his domestic violence offending.<\/p>\n
The presiding judge remarked on Visser\u2019s \u201clacklustre\u201d performance on the order, noting he had not engaged well in domestic violence counselling. <\/p>\n
Only six weeks before his suspended sentence was due to expire, Visser found himself again in trouble \u2013 causing a dangerous rear-end crash on the Pacific Motorway in 2024.<\/p>\n
Visser pleaded guilty to five driving and drug offences, with the court hearing he had a blood alcohol reading of 0.216, more than four times the legal limit, when he crashed into the car in front of him on the major motorway. <\/p>\n
He was also found to be driving unregistered, driving unlicensed as a repeat offender, and in possession of dangerous drugs.<\/p>\n
The social media manager was described by the presiding magistrate as a \u201cmenace on the roads\u201d, adding it was a \u201cminor miracle\u201d no one was seriously injured.<\/p>\n
The Brisbane District Court was told Visser was convicted for the offending in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court earlier this year, bringing on his breach proceedings.<\/p>\n
His defence barrister Timothy Wise argued Visser was a man with outstanding work history who had shown significant charitable efforts in his community. <\/p>\n
He told the court Visser had a very limited history of drug and alcohol offending and was able to maintain sobriety for sustained periods of time.<\/p>\n
\u201c(It is wrong) to suggest that drugs has been an ongoing, long-term issue, (but) it is obviously something that he continues to battle with on occasion,\u201d Mr Wise said.<\/p>\n
He said a further common assault conviction from 2025 regarding a melee at the Fortitude Valley did not involve any drug or alcohol misuse, and further drug testing in 2025 showed no positive results.<\/p>\n
Prosecution responded to the claims Visser had limited substance abuse, noting, on the Crown case, the alleged rapes occurred under the context of \u201cexcessive alcohol misuse\u201d however conceded the charges were being contested and could not be proven true in the current proceedings.<\/p>\n
The court was told Visser had closed his charity in 2020 following his domestic violence conviction and had since worked in the social media space, also attracting interest from Amazon Prime for his documentary films on the effects of alcohol and food on the body.<\/p>\n
Judge Lisa Petrusa SC told the court Visser\u2019s seeming lack of control over his actions when relapsing on drugs and alcohol drew concerns.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat I have now before me is a man who says \u2018I can give it up, I\u2019m willing to give it up, I\u2019m good\u2019 but within two years he\u2019s done something similar,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cYes, you can remain abstinent from drugs and alcohol for a sustained period of time \u2026 but you have not been able to get the resources and the skills to be able to deal with the matters that cause you to relapse, and that when you relapse you relapse in a significant way that poses a danger to the community.\u201d<\/p>\n
Judge Petrusa ordered the entirety of the nine-month suspended sentence be activated however granted Visser immediate release under the supervision of parole.<\/p>\n
I Can I Will was a not-for-profit dedicated to tackling bullying and discrimination in schools, with a particular focus on assisting children with special needs. <\/p>\n
