{"id":87567,"date":"2026-09-03T23:41:08","date_gmt":"2026-09-03T23:41:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/87567\/"},"modified":"2026-09-03T23:41:08","modified_gmt":"2026-09-03T23:41:08","slug":"brisbane-man-charged-with-allegedly-supplying-gel-blaster-firearms-interstate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/87567\/","title":{"rendered":"Brisbane man charged with allegedly supplying gel blaster firearms interstate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">A Brisbane man has been charged with allegedly supplying gel blaster firearms to customers around the country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">The Heathwood man, 38, was charged with two counts of taking or sending a firearm or firearm part across borders and will face the Brisbane Magistrate&#8217;s Court today.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">The maximum penalty for the offence is 10 years imprisonment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">The Australian Federal Police (AFP) first began investigations after discovering gel blasters while searching a home in Isabella Plains in the ACT in 2022.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Using information obtained during the search, the AFP said it was able to develop an &#8220;intelligence profile&#8221; on the scale and scope of gel blaster firearms being distributed around Australia.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2025-05-13\/gel-blaster-sales-on-facebok-marketplace-legal-risk\/105272810\" data-component=\"FullBleedLink\" class=\"RelatedCard_link__rsgR9 FullBleedLink_root__lTw_U interactive_focusContext__yRhc_ interactive_defaults__AKxUU FullBleedLink_showVisited__g3Xvz\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gel blasters sold online raise concerns among gun safety advocates<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP RelatedCard_synopsis__cFwMW Typography_sizeMobile14__u7TGe Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">Gel blasters sold in Queensland are legal but experts warn they carry a serious cross-border legal risk as other states crack down.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Gel blasters are classified as prohibited weapons in every state and territory except Queensland and it is illegal to transfer firearms or firearm parts through the postal system.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">In August 2025, AFP officers and the Queensland Police Service searched businesses in Brisbane and Toowoomba allegedly linked to the interstate supply of gel blasters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">AFP Detective Superintendent Jen Cullen said gel blasters pose a &#8220;significant risk&#8221; to the public and law enforcement because they can be used to create fear, intimidate or commit crimes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;Anyone not living in Queensland who has a gel blaster is urged to surrender it to police immediately. Illegally possessing a gel blaster can be met with severe legal ramifications,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;The AFP takes matters involving gel blasters seriously and have the resources to identify offenders who seek to profit from the sale or distribution of these items.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A Brisbane man has been charged with allegedly supplying gel blaster firearms to customers around the country.
