And so do I.

“I am genuinely blown away by the support from Australians, and the wider community.

“It has meant so much to me and my family. I have chosen to put my energy where it belongs, into my recovery, into [daughter] August, and into being grateful for the second chance at life I have been given.

“The love and support from this country has far outweighed anything else. I am just so grateful.”

Stewart’s measured response comes after the Fox FM trio faced a wave of backlash over their discussion of her interview on Tuesday.

During the segment, Fevola questioned Stewart’s revelation that she deliberately punched the shark with her left arm because it was the limb she was more “willing to lose”.

“I was on the couch with my wife going, ‘She’s lying! Too much time to think!’ You’re not thinking all that are you?” Fevola said.

“Come on, oh right or left? Like bro, you are amazing – you punched a shark in the face and survived – but you’re not thinking all that,” he added.

“That’s a lot of mayo.”

The comments sparked an immediate backlash online, with listeners accusing the hosts of being unnecessarily harsh towards a woman who had survived a horrific attack.

“Bit harsh Fev, she knew the shark was there for over a minute before it attacked her, I don’t think Fev listened to the whole story,” wrote one listener on the show’s Facebook page.

“Wow, sounds like Fev is a bit jealous of the attention this incredibly brave woman has been receiving,” added another listener.

Elsewhere online, more pointed criticism rolled in for the hosts.

“Bullying a survivor of a shark attack? Yeah – sounds about the level of classy behaviour we expect from radio hosts,” wrote one enraged online user.

Stewart has meanwhile continued to speak candidly about the psychological toll of the attack as she adjusts to life after losing her arm.

The young mum, who also appeared on Good Morning Britain to share her story, took to social media on Wednesday night to reveal that she still feels “disconnected” from what happened and is only beginning to process the trauma.

“I want to be a bit vulnerable here. Watching my Good Morning Britain interview, you may have noticed how calm I seemed describing the attack, the host even said it looked like I had no PTSD,” she said.

“Truthfully, I still feel disconnected from it, almost like it happened in a dream. I think that’s my mind protecting me while I begin processing it.”

She added: “I’m very early in that process, but wanted to give a snapshot of where I’m at.”

Read related topics:Leah Stewart Shark Attack

The 34-year-old mother-of-one was attacked by a four-metre great white shark while swimming between the flags at Coogee…

[4
19711,13431,13436,144455,29048,260,133418,141520,4968
post-87629","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-melbourne","tag-60-minutes","tag-brendan-fevola","tag-fox-fm","tag-kate-langbroek","tag-leah-stewart","tag-melbourne","tag-melbourne-radio","tag-nick-cody","tag-shark-attack
["GET
