{"id":88509,"date":"2026-09-05T04:12:14","date_gmt":"2026-09-05T04:12:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/88509\/"},"modified":"2026-09-05T04:12:14","modified_gmt":"2026-09-05T04:12:14","slug":"police-get-hands-on-mystery-audio-recording-about-sydney-swans-sexual-assault-allegations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/88509\/","title":{"rendered":"Police get hands on mystery audio recording about Sydney Swans sexual assault allegations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">The mystery audio recording that details some of the events that occurred at the Pullman Hotel \u2014 <a class=\"css-1lg16vp-StyledTextLink ezegcyi0\" data-link-type=\"article-inline\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/7news.com.au\/sport\/afl\/major-update-in-sydney-swans-scandal-as-focus-narrows-to-four-players-c-22813108\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">on the night of the alleged Sydney Swans scandal<\/a> \u2014 is now in the hands of Victoria Police.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">The Sydney Swans have been aware of the audio for some time now, and the AFL also has knowledge of the recording.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">In fact, AFL boss Andrew Dillon was asked about the tape a fortnight ago, only to dance around the question.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-178igh4-StyledParagraph e1s06mna1\">Know the news with the 7NEWS app: <a class=\"css-h2mhmv-StyledContextualLink e1s06mna0\" href=\"https:\/\/7news.com.au\/app?utm_source=7NEWS&amp;utm_medium=contextual-link-app&amp;utm_campaign=7news-app\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Download today Arrow<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cIf there is a tape that\u2019s relevant to the police investigation, it should be forwarded on to the police,\u201d Dillon simply said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">The recording reportedly has \u201cdetailed recollections from people who were inside the hotel room\u201d, and also \u201crecollections\u201d of what happened in the foyer when Dean Cox spoke to an alleged victim.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">On August 22, veteran AFL journalist Caroline Wilson said the AFL Integrity Unit and the Sydney Swans had been alerted to the secret recording.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cThe Sydney Swans have been contacted by a connection to one of the three women who were involved in these allegations &#8230; claiming to have audio of the women speaking together after they returned home from the Pullman Hotel,\u201d Wilson said last month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201c(It is allegedly) a conversation about where they might take this, what they might report to police, and where this might end for them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">It has now been reported that police seized the audio from a home in Melbourne.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">In the last statement issued by police, they revealed thay had spoken to Isaac Heeney, Chad Warner, Nick Blakey, and James Jordon about the allegations, while the fifth player in the room, Riley Bice, was now being terated as a witeness.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">No charges have been laid by police and 7NEWS is not suggesting any criminal wrongdoing by any of the players interviewed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">The Police statement said: \u201cPolice now believe they have now identified all parties who\u00a0were in the room at the time of the alleged incident\u00a0and are not looking for anyone further.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">Police also said there might not be a further update for around eight weeks. <\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">Sydney Swans have suspended all five players <a class=\"css-1lg16vp-StyledTextLink ezegcyi0\" data-link-type=\"article-inline\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/7news.com.au\/sport\/afl\/suspended-sydney-players-break-silence-in-joint-statement-after-hotel-incident--c-22747044\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">for the rest of the season for breaching club standards<\/a> and are insisting the ban will remain in place, even for the witness, Bice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">Meanwhile, Blakey has become disgruntled with his treatment by the club and reportedly wants to be traded.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">Swans star James Rowbottom said during the week it had \u201cbeen a challenging period\u201d for Blakey, who is also his housemate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cLiving with him is another layer to the situation, and so I\u2019ve reached out as a friend, but no, we haven\u2019t spoken about any of those sort of specifics,\u201d Rowbottom said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cYou\u2019ve got to sort of separate the person from the problem when you live with someone to try and offer support.
