Police and emergency services are responding to a light plane crash south of Brisbane on Monday.<\/p>\n
Initial police investigations indicate the Beechcraft Bonanza light aircraft crashed onto a property on Musch Road at Chambers Flat about 11.10am.<\/p>\n
Fire trucks were sent to the scene to contain a grassfire that was sparked by the crash.<\/p>\n
The flight left Archerfield Airport 11km south of Brisbane’s CBD at 10.58am, according to flight tracking data.<\/p>\n
Police said it is not yet known how many people were on board the aircraft.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson from the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) said a safety investigation into the incident had commenced on Monday morning.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“The ATSB has deployed a team of three transport safety investigators from its Brisbane offices, specialising in aircraft operations, maintenance and engineering, to the accident site,” the spokesperson said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“They will commence evidence-gathering activities including site and wreckage examination, and the recovery of any aircraft components of interest for further examination at the ATSB\u2019s technical facilities in Canberra.”<\/p>\n
Investigators are also set to interview witnesses and collect relevant recorded information from the aircraft’s flight data including the pilot and maintenance records, and weather information.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The ATSB has asked anyone with video footage or information to contact them via their website<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n The bureau said a preliminary report, detailing information about the circumstances of the accident, will be published in about eight weeks.<\/p>\n Emergency crews remain at the scene.<\/p>\n This is a developing story.
