If you thought choosing a wedding dress had to involve awkward try-ons, whispered opinions and being told not to touch anything, allow us to introduce you to Sydney\u2019s famous Fabulous Bridal Boys.<\/p>\n

One of Sydney\u2019s most popular and most glamorous bridal stores, RAIN Bridalwear, and the brilliant duo behind it, Jon and Rob, are bringing their distinctly cheeky take on luxury bridal shopping to Adelaide. From their Sydney base, brides have been known to fly in from across the country for the chance to find one of their luxe,\u00a0customisable gowns.<\/p>\n

Now, Adelaide brides won\u2019t have to catch a flight to experience the RAIN Bridalwear magic. The new CBD boutique is set to bring the brand\u2019s signature blend of glamour, personality and relaxed luxury to South Australian brides, offering a bridal shopping experience that feels every bit as special as the gowns themselves.<\/p>\n

And, perhaps more importantly, the pair have no intention of taking their\u00a0knowledgeable experience too seriously.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to put a sign across the front door saying, \u2018Attitude-Free Zone\u2019,\u201d Jon shared.<\/p>\n

While the RAIN boutique\u00a0may be a luxury bridal destination, the people inside are anything but stuffy.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can still have a five-star experience\u00a0whilst having fun,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

That balance is at the heart of RAIN Bridalwear, which Jon has been building in the bridal industry for almost three decades.<\/p>\n

His career began\u00a0with the UK\u2019s premier bridal veil company,\u00a0before developing his own bridal collection, wholesaling throughout the UK and Europe. After moving to Australia, Jon briefly thought he was done with bridal altogether.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just wanted a nice bar on the beach in the sunshine,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Instead, Jon eventually opened RAIN, swapping the wholesale business for a more\u00a0elevated approach to bridal.<\/p>\n

Rob, who studied international business and marketing and had been working in the corporate world, joined him in the business after moving to Australia from Ireland.<\/p>\n

\u201dI will never forget phoning my dad in Tipperary (yes, it\u2019s a long way to\u2026 you know the song right..?) and telling him I was making a career\u00a0change from corporate to bridal\u00a0fashion\u2026.The line went silent\u2026\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI was giving up a\u00a0corporate job in the city to\u00a0join my partner\u2019s bridal\u00a0brand,\u201d Rob said. \u201cBut this is\u00a0honestly\u00a0the best\u00a0career\u00a0I\u2019ve ever had.\u201d<\/p>\n

Partners in life,\u00a0business and plenty of bridal-related mischief, Jon and Rob have built RAIN around the idea that finding a wedding dress should be an experience, not an endurance sport.<\/p>\n

Rob first brought Jon to Adelaide for his birthday a couple years ago, having previously visited the city himself.<\/p>\n

The pair explored the city, went to see Tina: The Tina Turner Musical and wandered through Adelaide\u2019s streets, bars and restaurants. And something clicked.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery street we walked down we just kept saying, \u2018This is so cool\u2019,\u201d said Jon.<\/p>\n

Then, while walking through Rundle Mall, Rob received an email confirming his permanent residency. He stopped in his tracks, overwhelmed with emotion.<\/p>\n

\u201cRob said, \u2018I\u2019ve got this feeling\u2019. \u2018I\u2019ve got the same feeling\u2019, said Jon.<\/p>\n

He asked what it was. \u201cI think we\u2019re home.\u201d<\/p>\n

And apparently, that was that.<\/p>\n

And it was that philosophy, along with a growing love for Adelaide, that eventually brought them to South Australia.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re Team South Australia now,\u201d Rob said. \u201cWe\u2019re probably the state\u2019s biggest cheerleaders. Every time I land in Adelaide now, my shoulders drop. I relax. I feel like I\u2019m home.\u201d<\/p>\n

The new RAIN boutique is part of the pair\u2019s way of putting down some proper roots.<\/p>\n

Located on North Terrace, the boutique occupies a heritage-listed building filled with character. There are huge windows, high ceilings and original Canadian maple doors throughout the space, all of which have been retained as part of the fit-out.<\/p>\n

And unlike the Sydney store, which can have several appointments running each hour, the Adelaide boutique is deliberately more intimate.<\/p>\n

There will only ever be one bride and her guests in the store at a time.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt won\u2019t be that conveyor belt of brides,\u201d said Rob. Instead, appointments will be personal, relaxed and focused entirely on the bride.<\/p>\n

Jon says brides sometimes arrive at the store already wearing their \u201cboxing gloves\u201d, particularly if they\u2019ve had a bad experience elsewhere. So the first part of an appointment can be less about wedding dresses and more about getting everyone to relax.<\/p>\n

\u201cGet relaxed, put your bags down,\u201d Jon said. \u201cYes, you can touch the dresses. Yes, you can choose your own dresses.\u201d<\/p>\n

The pair want the boutique to feel luxurious without being intimidating, with plenty of room for personality, laughter and the occasional brutally honest opinion.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re very honest,\u201d Rob said.<\/p>\n

Sometimes that means telling a bride that a combination she has dreamed up is going to look amazing. Other times? \u201cNo\u2026 that\u2019s going to look terrible,\u201d Jon said.<\/p>\n

It is this irreverent approach that has helped RAIN attract brides who want their wedding dress experience to feel like them.<\/p>\n

One memorable bride even became the proud recipient of a tongue-in-cheek \u201cBridezilla of 2026\u201d poster after the pair developed a running joke with her during her appointments.<\/p>\n

She loved it so much that on her wedding day, while having her makeup done in her dressing gown, she had her photographer take a photo of her holding it.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s the kind of bride we want to work with. They\u2019ve got personality, we\u2019ve got personality, and the whole experience should be enjoyable,\u201d said Rob.<\/p>\n

Of course, underneath all the banter is some serious bridal expertise. RAIN\u2019s gowns are contemporary yet classic, but the real point of difference is how much room brides have to put their own stamp on them.<\/p>\n

A bride might fall in love with the bodice of one gown, the skirt of another and sleeves from a third. Those elements can potentially be brought together to create a combination that feels much more personal.<\/p>\n

The team is constantly experimenting with new fabrics, silhouettes and ideas, with Jon drawing inspiration from fashion weeks and the wider fashion industry. The result is a collection that is continually evolving. <\/p>\n

And there is another reason brides will need to venture beyond their screens to see what RAIN has to offer. There is no enormous online catalogue showcasing every single gown. The boutique is the catalogue. Because, according to Jon and Rob, photos can\u2019t tell the whole story.<\/p>\n

The feel of the fabric, the construction, the movement and the way a gown sits on the body all have to be experienced in person. And brides often discover that the gown they end up falling for is nothing like the one they thought they wanted. That is exactly what RAIN wants to encourage.<\/p>\n

For Jon and Rob, the Adelaide boutique is about much more than opening a second store. They could have chosen another city based purely on business opportunity, but Adelaide won them over on something much more personal.<\/p>\n

The North Terrace boutique is designed to have its own identity rather than simply replicate the Sydney store, with the building\u2019s heritage and Adelaide\u2019s character shaping the experience.<\/p>\n

There will also be opportunities for brides to discover the collection in a more relaxed setting through\u00a0\u201cSip n See\u201d evenings and other events, while VIP appointments will offer brides the chance to turn finding their gown into a celebration with their favourite people,\u00a0 grazing platters and bubbles.<\/p>\n

Because ultimately, the Fabulous Bridal Boys want to make the whole thing a little more fun.<\/p>\n

So while the gowns are luxurious and the fabrics are beautiful, you don\u2019t need to arrive in designer shoes, know exactly what you want or have your entire wedding Pinterest board figured out.<\/p>\n

You just need to walk through the door. And, ideally, leave the attitude at home.<\/p>\n
