{"id":90675,"date":"2026-09-08T03:26:12","date_gmt":"2026-09-08T03:26:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/90675\/"},"modified":"2026-09-08T03:26:12","modified_gmt":"2026-09-08T03:26:12","slug":"three-child-sex-offenders-charged-in-first-eight-months-of-queensland-online-register","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/90675\/","title":{"rendered":"Three child sex offenders charged in first eight months of Queensland online register"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Three paedophiles have been charged with dozens of offences in the first eight months of Queensland&#8217;s public child sex offender register.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">The website, set up under Daniel&#8217;s Law in honour of murdered Sunshine Coast teenager Daniel Morcombe, has had more than 400,000 visits since its launch in December.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">It lists the photos and personal details of reportable offenders who fail to comply with their obligations or hide from police.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Residents can apply to view images of sex offenders in their local area, while parents and carers can apply to the police to find out if an adult having unsupervised contact with their child is a reportable offender.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"A screenshot of the site\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/c0f902ffef91e265e8bab0e29b040729.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">The site launched on December 31, 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Deputy Police Commissioner Cheryl Scanlon said three people had been charged with dozens of offences, including 68 counts for allegedly breaching their reporting obligations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">She said one person had also been charged with two counts of indecent treatment of a child under 12 and possession of child exploitation material.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;When you look at the opportunities for us out of that register and the work that&#8217;s being done in such a short space of time, it is paying dividends,&#8221; Deputy Commissioner Scanlon said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2025-12-31\/queensland-s-new-public-child-sex-offender-register-is-now-live\/106189810\" data-component=\"FullBleedLink\" class=\"RelatedCard_link__rsgR9 FullBleedLink_root__lTw_U interactive_focusContext__yRhc_ interactive_defaults__AKxUU FullBleedLink_showVisited__g3Xvz\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New Qld public child sex offender register live<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP RelatedCard_synopsis__cFwMW Typography_sizeMobile14__u7TGe Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">The government says the new public child sex offender register is prepared for high traffic following its launch.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">She said 19 reportable offenders had been identified as having unsupervised contact with a child following 231 applications submitted by parents and guardians.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">In its first three months, the website had been visited more than 290,000 times and 38,800 <a class=\"Link_link__kR0xA Link_link__5eL5m ScreenReaderOnly_srLinkHint__OysWz Link_showVisited__C1Fea Link_showFocus__ALyv2\" href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2026-04-01\/290000-visits-to-daniels-law-website-child-sex-offender-register\/106521102\" data-component=\"Link\" data-uri=\"coremedia:\/\/article\/106521102\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">locality applications were submitted.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">In the first six months, the website had been visited more than 381,591 times, with 44,472 locality search applications submitted.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Now, after eight months, the website has been visited 405,330 times and 46,428 locality search applications have been submitted.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Premier David Crisafulli said it showed what happened when parents were given information and tools to keep their kids safe.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is about trying to shine a light on those monsters who try to lurk in the shadows, who try to run away from their past,&#8221;
