he told ABC Radio Canberra.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;It&#8217;s just that the disallowable instrument didn&#8217;t include the word seatbelt.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Rynehart said infringements that had already been paid were considered settled, meaning the associated demerit points would still apply.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">He said the issue centred on whether the evidence was admissible in court, rather than whether an offence had actually occurred.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">As soon as the issue was found, Access Canberra halted seatbelt fines issued by the cameras.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Rynehart confirmed the problem had now been fixed, and infringements were being handed down again.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The Legislative Assembly will now consider retrospective legislation aimed at correcting the oversight and ensuring the affected fines remain valid.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Have you ever been unfairly fined?
