<\/p>\nPolice have offered a $1 million reward for information that leads to the conviction of suspects in two cold case murders.<\/p>\n
Forensic artist impressions of two people believed to be linked to the suspected murders of two men from the Queensland\u2013New South Wales border region 24 years ago were released by Queensland Police on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
In 2002, 45-year-old Iain Stewart Hogg from Tweed Heads and 67-year-old Frederick Hugh Rosson, also known as “Slim Johnson”, went missing.<\/p>\n
Detective Sergeant Scott Chapman said the public should take a moment to look at the suspects’ images.<\/p>\n
“Someone may recognise or know these men or remember something that seemed insignificant at the time but now could be important,” he said.<\/p>\n
“People who may once have been afraid to speak may no longer feel that way. It is never too late to come forward.”<\/p>\n

Last reported sightings<\/p>\n
Mr Hogg was reported missing on March 12, 2002, after he did not turn up for work at a Burleigh bottle shop.<\/p>\n
He was seen driving his 1992 red Toyota Celica coupe to his apartment at Teemangum Street in Currumbin Beach in the late afternoon of March 10, before speaking to his elderly mother on the phone at about 6pm.<\/p>\n
The car, with Queensland registration plate 861GBW, was last spotted between 1am and 3am, NSW time, in a car park near the Volunteer Marine Rescue Boat pontoon on the northern bank of Tweed River in Coral Street.<\/p>\n

Witnesses reported seeing several people standing around the car before a flash and loud bang, believed to be caused by the firing of a gun.<\/p>\n
Police said Mr Hogg’s body may have been thrown into the river, immediately adjacent to the Tweed River mouth’s northern rock wall.<\/p>\n
Days later, on March 14, Mr Rosson was shot and killed at his Pademelon Pass residence at Mount Nathan, north of the border.<\/p>\n
Police said Mr Rosson was phoned by a man in the Coolangatta\u2013Tweed Heads area about a 9mm CZ handgun he had listed for sale in the local Trading Post classifieds.<\/p>\n
It is believed Mr Rosson was in the process of selling the handgun when he was shot.<\/p>\n
Both the gun and ammunition were stolen, with witnesses reporting seeing two men in a red Celica visiting Mr Rosson at the time.<\/p>\n
Police found the car abandoned on 15th Avenue, Palm Beach, on March 20.<\/p>\n
Police do not believe Mr Hogg or Mr Rosson knew each other or were involved in any criminal activity.<\/p>\n
The prosecution may also offer indemnity to any accomplice who did not directly commit the alleged crimes but provides information to police.<\/p>\n
