Les flammes ont progressé jusqu’au pôle nautique où des fumées épaisses et toxiques ont recouvert les bateaux. Un yacht est notamment parti en fumée et une partie des bâtiments de l’entreprise Catana, deuxième constructeur mondial de catamarans, a été détruite. Trois sapeurs-pompiers ont été légèrement blessés.

7.000 départs de feu, 8.700 hectares brûlés

Ces violents incendies sont exceptionnellement précoces. Le Premier ministre Sébastien Lecornu l’a confirmé: « Il faut bien reconnaître qu’ils arrivent pratiquement 15 jours, trois semaines, en amont des périodes habituelles ».

Depuis le début de la saison, 7.000 départs de feu ont été dénombrés. 8.700 hectares ont déjà été brûlés. Rien que mercredi et jeudi, 2.000 sapeurs-pompiers ont été mobilisés en France.

Le plus gros incendie enregistré cette saison brûle depuis mercredi après-midi dans l’Aude et l’Hérault. « Attisé par le vent », il a déjà parcouru environ 900 hectares. Les conditions climatiques sont « défavorables », avec des rafales qui atteignent 70 km/h.

« Autour du village, il n’y aura bientôt plus rien à brûler: on a eu trois feux en cinq ans, pas trop étendus mais qui font quand même des dégâts », regrette un habitant de Mailhac (l’Aude).

Autoroute fermée, vigilance orange

Un peu plus au sud, à Narbonne, un incendie s’est aussi déclaré jeudi après-midi avant d’être fixé en soirée. Il a brûlé deux maisons et 12 personnes ont dû être mises en sécurité.

Plus à l’est, dans le Gard, à Milhaud, un incendie parti dans une entreprise de palettes de bois n’était pas encore fixé dans la soirée et avait parcouru 130 hectares.

L’A9 a été fermée à plusieurs endroits en raison des incendies: vers Orange et vers Béziers, en direction de l’Espagne. Météo-France évoque pour la fin de semaine une « probabilité élevée de vigilance orange sur le Languedoc Roussillon ».

Dans 9 cas sur 10, ces incendies sont d’origine humaine.
