Les seuls trous noirs dont on connaisse clairement l\u2019origine sont les \u00abpetits\u00bb, dont la masse ne d\u00e9passe pas quelques dizaines de masses solaires: ils r\u00e9sultent de l\u2019effondrement gravitationnel d\u2019\u00e9toiles en fin de vie. Ces trous noirs peuvent ensuite cro\u00eetre par fusions successives pour atteindre quelques centaines, peut-\u00eatre quelques milliers, de masses solaires. Mais comment atteindre plusieurs millions \u00e0 plusieurs milliards de fois la masse du Soleil, la taille typique des objets que l\u2019on retrouve au c\u0153ur des galaxies?
