De band rond complotdenker Matthew Bellamy beleeft niet meer de tijden van weleer. De Britten zagen hun muziekniveau dalen en een clich\u00e9matige kopie worden van hun statuut als spacerockpioniers met een legio aan bombastische hits. De band blijft het wel proberen en slaagt er soms in om toch hun talenten terug te tonen. Het laatste <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dansendeberen.be\/2026\/05\/20\/nieuwe-single-muse-hexagons\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">\u201cHexagons\u201d<\/a> was toch een dreigende boodschap dat best nog ok\u00e9 verpakt is met een hypnotiserende gitaarlijn. Helaas waren de andere singles uit de The Wow! Signal niet helemaal wow en vooral heel voorspelbaar. Met \u201cNightshift Superstar\u201d \u2013 een titel die al niet veel goeds voorspelt \u2013 is de helft van het snel aankomende album gelanceerd, maar voorlopig lijkt het album de aanhoudende losing streak te verlengen.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Is dit de band die ons liet springen op \u201cKnights of Cydonia\u201d of de luchtgitaren bij ons naar boven bracht bij \u201cPlug In Baby\u201d? Duidelijk niet, want met \u201cNightshift Superstar\u201d is de band zo ver van huis dat ze compleet onherkenbaar zijn. Het is eigenlijk een heel goedkoop dansnummertje dat ook maar een mislukte poging is tot het kopi\u00ebren van Justice. Een drijvende baslijn is het enige wat ons terug doet denken aan de grootse band dat Muse was. Dat ene lichtpuntje is dan ook weer volledig anders ingekleed met basis geprogrammeerde drumbeats en een platgetreden songstructuur waardoor die verloren gaat in het nummer. Hoe zou het intern met de band zijn? Want waar \u201cHysteria\u201d bassist Chris Wolstenholme volop laat schitteren en \u201cAssassin\u201d aanvoelt als een rageroom voor drummer Dominic Howard, is er op The Wow! Signal (nog) geen plaats om beide bandleden de aandacht te geven die ze verdienen. Het nieuwe materiaal voelt allemaal aan als het solowerk van Bellamy die vergeten is wat de band zo goed maakte en dat is hij, samen met zijn twee bandleden in een klassieke rockbandopstelling.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Wow!
