The political dialogue between Georgia and the European Union in 2024 was suspended by Brussels, not by Tbilisi, Georgia’s Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili stated.
As Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media, Botchorishvili made the remarks during a parliamentary session, responding to questions regarding the status of EU–Georgia relations.
“The Georgian Dream has never stopped the process of European integration. On the contrary, thanks to our policies, Georgia is in many areas closer to European standards than other candidate countries,” she said.
The minister emphasized that responsibility for implementing the European Union’s “nine recommendations” is shared across the political spectrum, not limited to the government alone. She specifically highlighted the role of the opposition in ensuring progress, particularly in relation to participation in parliamentary and electoral processes.
